Didn't go last night but thinking back to Saturday:
The only anti-English stuff heard was "it's coming home/you fecked it up" which in truth they did with 6 out of 7 games at home and being 3rd best team in Europe on FIFA stats - the only one acting as a host nation and in the weakest group to start with.
I'm sure our English academy kids can manage and just as long as Canton enjoy it being sung back to them when England do eventually win a trophy.
Regarding our Hymns and Arias, anyone singing that should be banned for a month until they learn the lesson. With all the different home fans and different away fans over the years it's likely to hit home for someone in a really nasty way when they should be supported instead.
I presume the Song Police have tried singing their own songs.
Booing anti swansea songs and others you don't like haha.
How did you and your circle of nerds on here cope in the dark days of football?
All clubs sing about their rivals regardless of if they are playing them.
Christ half of you on this thread must have had a good few layers of cotton wool wrapped around you growing up.
Good guess where the offended by everything snowflakes came from.
I wouldn't want to be in the trenches with some on here.
I can see it now as the bombs drop on the battle field a few of you would be writing complaint letters that the explosions are to loud and there's no toilet and packed lunches provided.
I don't think there's anything wrong with a bit of it's coming home you fecked it up for these first few games of the season, God knows we'd be getting sung at if they'd won it and it was only a month ago.
The anti Swansea stuff's stupid when we're not playing them though, and the least said about the hymns and arias song the better.
Not at all. You rate yourself a fair bit if you think you have.
I haven't said half of those things.
I don't think Wilson is as good as many rate him to be (I said this at the start of last season by the way before his price dropped by almost half).
Our manager is a solid manager at this level but his style is not an entertaining one. Mehmet tells us he wants a more entertaining style, which Im sure the fans are crying out for, then employs Neil Harris and Mick McCarthy.
The team are decent enough and I don't think will be in trouble this term. Upper mid table probably the realistic finish for us if Moore stays fit for the majority and gets close to the number of goals he got last season. We're not promotion contenders for me. For you they are. Fair enough, opinions differ.
As for the board I will give Tan little credit for anything other than putting his money in. I think he lacks a great deal of football knowledge which is evidenced in thinking that Choo and Dalman are sufficient to make this club successful. I think he has used us as his play thing and once he realised he couldn't do what he liked with the club has lost interest in us and hardly ever attends any more (this was happening pre Covid).
That about it really. We will be the Championship average club until Tan realises we need more in the boardroom and more football knowledge with a clear vision.
What parts of that do you disagree with?
However with little football knowledge hes overseen by far the most successful teams with 2 PL promotions and including a Football League Championship.
I think we are looking at mid table at the moment.
I think Tan or his family will be at the club years and I reckon at some point we will go back up.
The key this time is a plan to stay there.
To be fair we far from disgraced ourselves last time. Big if but if it wasnt for that abysmal referee and linesman v Chelsea we may have stayed up.
I think we will go back up eventually and hope we do. I just think the club are missing a trick by not employing football people at board level. Maybe Tan and the board know that would mean an overhaul and don't want that. I'm not sure for the reasoning behind it.
As I said to dml I need to be more positive. Showing frustration on here isn't great but it is better backing the team for 90 minutes and posting here than showing it at a game.
I think we'll be in limbo for a bit yet in the Championship so I just need to learn to enjoy it for what it is. I am a bit more optimistic in person, not much, but I'm sure I am a bit more positive .
That’s how it works. Used to be free speech on all sides , although that’s long gone of course.
Free speech as long as people agree with that speech these days.
I remember it at Luton but as I have never been to Derby you may be right about the Baseball/ Pride Park.
So people are allowed to say what they want unless it’s criticising anything?
I’ll use my right to free speech here, football fans and the associated banter has been shit for a long time (if not forever). Their idea of banter is repeating the same shit song for 20 years then shouting the word wanker at a millionaire.
The best atmospheres have almost always been in shite of that sort of shite. The best atmospheres of the last 20 years have been the fans getting behind the team (Leicester home and away in the playoffs, palace in the semi final)
And if we are being completely honest Cardiff didn’t start “we’re only here because we are single” and it only needed to be sang the one year not the subsequent 30 because it isn’t funny anymore.
People who criticise the board, management and/or players are doing so because they care about the club, not because they don’t like the club. It’s a criticism of those people, not the club they support.
If we didn’t criticise, then how does the club know when it’s not doing the right thing?
Saying that, we’re all entitled to an opinion, just as long as it’s the same as mine! 🤪
I would assume the vast majority of people don’t care about the players taking the knee but booing it is pathetic.
