It's very strange and sinister.

Some level of vandalism is probably unfortunately inevitable, but this must be very intimidating. And chainsaws to cut down trees? wtf!?

Hopefully some CCTV images of suspects will emerge

Shocking stuff. I rode through there at the weekend and it's very sad to see such mature trees damaged like that.
Got to be premeditated and not just a bunch of kids doing stuff for a laugh.

I dunno, I think it's most likely kids.
they probably broke into some shed somewhere and found the chainsaws, used them until the petrol ran out then set them on fire.
the entire city centre is well covered by CCTV though, they must be able to see who is going in and out the park

When I lived in Cardiff I used to enjoy fishing the canal in bute Park

You would occasionally get chaps offering you a good time in the bushes but that's about it

It seems very dodgy these days , some bloke was seriously assaulted there by a gang in the summer in what seems like a homophobic attack

And this vandalism , what a bunch of tossers

yeah like most inner city parks anywhere on the planet, I wouldn't want to hang around there after dark.

during the day it's absolutely fine.
it seems there was a murderer and a rape in the park recently, and in both cases they've quickly made arrests.

So plan to get a trade and become an apprentice plumber - off to the army, apprentice builder - off to the army, working in tesco - off to the army, got a job in a restaurant - off to the army etc
