Blocked by protestors.
Reopened now 23 arrests.
Good to see the police acting quickly to remove the protesters to get the motorway back open.
Absolutely ridiculous, totally unacceptable. Tougher sentences are needed for people who will cause that level of disruption.
Imagine how slated these protesters would be if it wasn't for a cause so many in the media are sympathetic to.
It’s a wonder Cardiff City Council haven’t set up parasols & tables, selling panini’s and coffee
If every home in the UK was properly insulated, people wouldnt be facing the horrendous energy bills that are coming our way shortly.
If it wasn't this it would be something else. People have too much time on their hands at the moment.
Get them off furlough and back at work.
If they haven't got a job get a HGV licence or pick fruit in Norfolk
The traffic jams are causing much more pollution too…..
I'm sympathetic to their purpose and its nice that some people care enough to try to get change.
You can see how the world reacts to very real and imminent threats like covid, yet for something that creeps up on you the reaction by those in power is laboured.
But... There has to be a better way than pissing everyone off.
There must be targets they could focus on which would be equally as covered by the media but cause far less frustration, anger and disruption to the every day man and woman just trying to get about their day.
Nearly every cause is just on one level, but the that doesnt mean the actions are justified. I also suspect it does their cause no good.
You cant just do what the hell you like and disrupt everyone's lives. That is just arrogance and entitlement and not connected to democracy or protest at all.
It's a form of vandalism, its dangerous to them and other users and they should be dealt with harshly.
If we were a reasonable, common sense species there wouldn't be this problem with the climate. It's been flagged up for decades and barely anything has changed; in fact, the fuel industries have worked hard to shut dissenters up. Most often, disruption is the only way. You might disagree with the details but that's how we are.
Except the UK has done better than most other countries in decarbonising and in terms of renewal energy production, particularly wind energy.
It's the narcissistic fanaticism of it, and disregard for other opinions. It will achieve nothing. They are better off encouraging a boycott of Chinese (and other high carbon country) products if they want to be radical.
There will always be more to do and always causes people care about but you cant just decide you want to disrupt everyones lives because of it.
I think you are comparing apples with aeroplanes.
We left the EU because we had a referendum and more people voted leave than voted remain. Other countries outside the EU include; Japan, USA, Switzerland, Norway, New Zealand, South Korea, Canada, Australia, Iceland etc. All government policy disrupts and changes things; that's their job. The difference is governments are voted in. It's called democracy.
It's not comparable to a bunch of people deciding to stop traffic and disrupt peoples lives because they feel like it. It's not on and if you think it's okay for people to wander into the M25 whenever they care about something then I 100% disagree with you.
You sound like you live in Tunbridge Wells and still use blotting paper. You’d have called Mandela, King and Ghandi narcissists for protesting about things they cared about. The same things were said about their protests too. You should be glad there are people out there doing something. Voting has got us nowhere. There are a lot of us who think like this.
What good is democracy when all you vote in are liars and corruption?
Nonsense on numerous levels. You sound like a fanatic and pretty selfish too. Good luck blocking the M4 then mate. Not sure that tin foil hat will protect you from traffic. There are ways and means of protesting and this isn't it, not least because it damages what is an important cause and clearly there is total disregard for anyone caught up in it.
Incidentally, UK carbon emissions have dramatically fallen in the last two decades and we are well above most countries in the use of clean energy.
So quite clearly voting is getting us somewhere in this regard so your post is wrong on almost every level.
