Just watched it
Christ that was a difficult watch
Those lads went through hell
Tom Mangold whose documentary on the cardiff three many years ago was also gripping viewing said ......
If you frame an innocent man for murder .....then you become a murderer yourself
And looking at how the lives of those men turned out it as if they have been murdered 😕
It is absolutely shameful and disgraceful that those men were framed and fitted up by police officers in Cardiff
It is disgraceful that a senior police officer at the time of the appeal when the three walked free said that it seemed the justice system appeared to be more in favour of the criminal than the victim . Wtf was he doing saying that after a QC found them not guilty , a man clearly a thousand times brighter than him !
And it's disgusting that those 8 police officers did not face prison sentences ......and retired on pensions ......after they basically ruined those mens lives and that of their families .
Shame on them and shame on the justice system for allowing them to get away with it
Its all very well people saying oh that was a long time ago , it couldn't and wouldn't happen now
Yeah OK 👌
I watched it all 2 weeks ago. The collapse of the trial against the police officers was shocking as well with the missing documents which were later found.
Horrible watching them all smiles when the trial collapsed.
Its just wrong that they havent faced the justice they deserve.
Yeah and your right that Senior Police Officer what an utter w@nker.
I thought I had a decent knowledge of what happened in the Lynette White case, but that programme was a real eye opener - the corruption was, obviously, bad enough, but I couldn't get over how thick the police came across as being.
I still can’t get over how you can find a bloke guilty of something when 13 people testified he was working on a boat 10 miles away.
The system is broken.
South Wales police have left a huge scar across Cardiff in a number of cases.
The fact the police responsible have never been brought to justice just adds more pain to the people involved.
Is it any wonder black and minority people have absolutely no trust in them whatsoever.
This was a shocking case. What surprised me was that the coppers directly involved were held accountable (even though the trial against them collapsed in questionable circumstances) but not the more senior officers who must have encouraged the culture of framing people and then fitting so called evidence against them.
Another odd thing was that 3 people were prosecuted and imprisoned for giving false evidence against the Cardiff 5 and later Cardiff 3 but even the judge indicated that they were forced into such confessions by the Police who got off scott free.
All in all the whole thing was shameful but compelling viewing.
Well the families of those framed certainly won't
John Actie looks haunted and poor old Tony Parris looks old beyond his years . Living alone , barely coming out . They must suffer with post traumatic stress .
Actie says as a young man he and his friends were often given racist abuse by the police in vans .
People talk about black people .....playing the race card
Well I believe John Actie and Tony Parris
Did any of these guys receive compensation?
The bloke sent down for lying was a homosexual . The police bullied him about this saying if he didn't stand against these boys he would find life difficult . He stood against the boys , helped , together with police , send them down and then later HE goes to prison ....and the police get feck all and get their pensions !
WTF
What I still can’t get my head around is, SWP had a witness who saw a white guy covered in blood and highly distressed, whose photo fit, looked nearly exactly like Jeffrey Dafoor but 10 months later, arrested and prosecuted 5 black guys. Although I hold SWP mainly responsible, everybody involved in this case, both prosecution and defence, should hold their heads in shame.
