..either leave us in disgrace or under a cloud of controversy, most other clubs have a lot to thank their previous managers for when they move on to bigger clubs or take retirement, all of ours leave with more than a tinge of fan/manager bitterness, when was the last time we parted ways with a manager and wished him well in his endeavours..?

Other than Fergie, I can’t think of anyone else that was thanked for their efforts on leaving.
A few spring to mind that done well and not had contracts renewed recently.
Roy Hodgeson, Eddie Howe, Nuno, Benitez and even Pep.
After 3 champs leagues and a la liga title - Zidane probably left with the Madrid fans unhappy.
Bob Paisley. Kenny Daglish at Blackburn, Mourninio 1st spell at chelsea
All about the thrill of the chase.
Is there anyone who would be boo’d if they came back? I don’t think so.
To answer the post: we are a small club no huge fan base or appeal ,no real money, therfore we're fishing in a second rate pool of players and managers.
Over the last 10 years I actually think we've done well considering our limitations.
And there you have pluckily little Cardiff syndrome described to a tee. We were in the top ten best supported teams in the country in 18/19 and our two promotions to the Premier League in the last decade have netted us £200 million plus. In Vincent Tan’s time we’ve spent more than enough to establish ourselves as a Palace, Brighton, Burnley or Watford type club, in fact, we probably should be more akin to a Leicester or Southampton - Warnock and Mackay/Ole were given more than enough in terms of a budget to ensure we didn’t end up with a uniquely bad Premier League record.
