Thread: Will Derby finish above us without another points deduction?

Will Derby finish above us without another points deduction?

They're currently nine points behind us having played one game more and they have a far superior goal difference. We still have to play them twice this season with the away game being on the final day. If they win both those games, which doesn't seem too unlikely at the moment, they would only have to take three more points than us from the remaining games to finish above us.

    Nah

It depends if they can keep their squad together. They have to sell players at some point even though they're trying to bend the rules a bit and are turning down bids

There is also the possibility of expulsion: https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/spo...keover-6497827

They've won 35 points from 26 games. Over the course of a 46 game season that would give them 62 points. Take off the 21 they've been deducted and that leaves them with 41 points.

We've got 23 points from 25 games, giving us 42 points over the course of a season.

    I wouldn't rule it out.

What happens if they are wound up before the end of the season? Will only two clubs be relegated from the Championship?

Probably. 3 teams would still come up as normal from League 1 and the rest would be unaffected.

I think they have every chance of finishing above both Cardiff and Reading. Only four teams in the division have lost less games than them.
Their next three home games are Birmingham, Hull and Peterborough. I would expect them to win the lot.

That's what happened when Bury went bust (3 teams relegated from League One to League Two instead of 4, with 4 teams still promoted to take their place as usual.)

I think realistically there's every chance; if they take 6 points off us they're almost there. Our best hope is that Barnsley and Peterborough don't start improving.

No…..stop being a drama Queen….we outplayed the best team in the league today !! Above the Jacks definitely….play offs? …possibly.
    Keep the faith !

If the Derby squad of the second half of the season is the same as the first half - just maybe.

    But it won't be.

Jagielka has gone and Derby have accepted a bid for Shinnie (from Wigan). Offers will come in for other players before the window closes. The administrators are not there to protect Rooney's squad. The mood music is getting worse. Rooney may be in the Everton dug out before the end of the window.

They have done very well so far this season - but the wheels are coming off.

Derby v Cardiff on the last day of the season already has a feeling of being an important fixture.

Derby’s fate going to the last game for the second successive season?

Derby to take their revenge over Cardiff for all the abuse over the snow scandal?

Marlon Pack to score in the last minute of the season for the second year in a row, but this time to relegate Derby?

On current form almost certainly. They are clearly a better team and now have hope.

So our best chance of avoiding relegation is for a club that has already been deducted 21 points being forced to sell their best players? What a mess.

If your original question had been 'are we in a mess' I doubt anyone would have disagreed.

But Derby aside, I think we will finish the season above Barnsley, Peterborough and Reading. I have some confidence that we will also end up above Hull, Bristol City and Birmingham. That is not even 'mid table obscurity' and represents a woeful season - but I think we have enough to get safe - eventually. We will have a much better idea when the window shuts and we have played the next set of four league games.

I still hate Marlon Pack for scoring that late equaliser against Rotherham

A classic position for CCFC. Memories of Preston in 2009 come to mind....for slightly different reasons of course!

Really? What makes you think that?

£30k for Shinnie. Don't know much about him, but £30k for a championship regular is peanuts. Maybe that's where we should be shopping!

Jason Knight supposedly leaving next, and Sam Baldock's contract expires tomorrow.

Louis Sibley has been linked with Millwall, we should be looking at him

With a bit of luck they'll loose Rooney to Everton and someone like West Brom will take Lawrence off their hands.
