Love the Kinks, but just before my tie. Seen them live several times, but not this one.

I attended the second show when the KInks were replaced by a double dose of Yardbirds. The problem was that Jeff Beck had only just replaced Eric Clapton as lead guitarist so had to play most of their music twice.
I saw the KInks 30 years later (only Ray Davies remained of the original lineup) and was amazed by their young following even so many years after their prime.
I loved the early Kinks, 'you really got me', 'all day and all of the night' etc but I could never get enthused about their later stuff, apart from perhaps Lola.
After some further research, the Cardiff gig took place on 19 May 1965, and it ended during the 2nd song due to an "accident".

First gig I ever went to, kinks at st david’s hall circa 1984. I was a 13 yr old mod, bowling shoes, parka, thinking I was the face. Funny when I think about it now

Why did Jeff Beck have to play everything twice?
I have a ticket to see him at St David's Hall in May. He's the last one to cross off the list, I've seen Clapton and Page and a much later version of the Yardbirds.
He had just joined them and they hadn't rehearsed anything other than the set they should have performed. Because the Kinks didn't play the Yardbirds were ushered in to play twice and they hadn't rehearsed anything other than the music they were scheduled to play. Jeff Beck is a very fine guitarist but his music has gone weird in recent years.
Did you watch the Paris video above? It's the closest you will get to experiencing what you missed, and it looks like it would have been a great concert!

I know what you mean about Jeff Beck's music. Some of it I like, despite it being weird.
What a story, Dave Davies incapacitated down at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Mick Avory on the run trying to avoid the police, and Jeff Beck having to play the same songs twice. They should have never closed the Capital Theatre, it has so much history!
It's fair to say they had moved on the days of the early 60s.

My mum and dad met there in 1956.
It's the same with the Cardiff Top Rank, we used to call it the Top Rank when speaking about it in Cardiff. The Swansea Top Rank was known by it's full name. We also spelled Capitol with an 'a' instead of an 'o'. Sorry to be a pedant

I loved the Kinks and Waterloo Sunset is probably my favourite record of all time.
I was too young to see them in their prime but have seenRay Davies as a solo artist, attended his London Music shows at the South Bank and caught the theatre production of their life a couple of times.
Arguably one of the most influential bands of all time although I am a bit biased.
