I went to England v wales. £89, top tier. It was a pretty good experience to be honest. but then people around me were generally sober. Being surrounded by pissed muppets on a friday night is less fun.
There's no such thing as those at rugby games. They are merely high spirited.

On the subject of the top tier, I watched Bruno v Lennox from there, well I watched the ****ing video screens. Shit view.
£100 quid for that is outrageous considering you could have got a wales football play off ticket for around £35.
The WRU are proper ripping fans off, as not selling out a home match might make them think again next time?

Boxing's one which I don't think I'd ever bother watching live. Between the coked/pissed up dickheads and the crap view I much prefer watching it at home, also I think the commentators really add to the viewing experience

It's bring a bottle night to my potting-shed-cum-beach-bar for tonight's egg encounter at mine. Dumplings and stew included but it's a full house, I'm afraid. All eight seats around the table have been snapped up.

I went to watch a Joshua fight in the 02 in London a few years ago after he'd turned pro. Even there (20K capacity) could hardly see it and again was just full of nutters pissed up, puking & fighting between each other, etc.
Glad to say i saw him "live" but yeah, never again.
Easier to pay the £25 nicker box office and watch it at home or over someones house.
    God i'm getting old...

I don't consider that I have attended a gig if I have watched proceedings on a video screen because the artists are so far in the distance.
    Old fartism perhaps.

    Save100 plus drinks game review.

France kick ball in the air as far as they can .

    Charge forward.

    Wales grab or drop ball.

France ruck and head for big white line .

Wales are doing well at the moment, loads of errors from France

Abysmal atmosphere mind, they're playing the anthem over the speakers

Havent got a clue when it comes to rugby rules , but love the Millennium experience . It feels more like a show than a sporting contest for some reason . Prices are very steep but I will be back hoping I can see Scotland beating Wales in Cardiff at some point
It is expensive , occasionally is fine ..

International Rugby left ordinary rugby fans behind years ago, its now a middle class event based business hospitality play thing

Re: Wales v France Six Nations Unsold Tickets

    Wales played well

But onto the atmosphere ......there simply isn't one . No singing .

And a poor crowd . We are continually told Wales is obsessed with rugby , its in our blood and all that ridiculous nonsense.

Rugby is a big event 5 times a year and is 3 home games ?

So if the population of Wales is 3 million then why is a rugby obsessed nation unable to sell out 74000 seats against France ?

It's expensive but even going to every home game is hardly going to make you sell your house ?

And if the myth that we all love rugby was true then if dai can't afford 3 home games this year , Trevor can , dai can come next year , isn't it ?

Never mind comparing rugby to football crowds , we are not perpetuating the myth that everyone loves football

I saw Wales V New Zealand at The Millenium not that long ago and there were loads of empty seats 😳

In the same way football has left ordinary football fans behind

They gotta deal with it like we have

So you working through the game then we’re you?

Didn’t see any of it, but I understand there were about 10,000 empty seats.

My question is what is happening to all of the money raised from these exorbitant prices? Based on Cardiff and the Dragons I think it was losing by an aggregate score of something like 115-12 to Irish regions last weekend, it’s not being put back into the game. The fact that the Welsh team is still pretty competitive is a bit of a surprise when you see how weak our four “first class teams” are - there seems far more money available to four of the other five sides in the Six Nations, and possibly Italy as well, for their clubs and regions to bring in better quality imports than you get in Wales.

I caught about 15 minutes and it looked like one whole stand at one end was completely empty. Apparently the WRU and the BBC were putting a bit of spin on the subject - a friend of the Mrs. who works in the Sports Centre was offered 4 free tickets earlier this week and was told it was because 'the French weren't travelling over this year.."

I was in town last night and was offered tickets for £10

there were lots of french in town last night

Re: Wales v France Six Nations Unsold Tickets

It was a poor game. Both teams aimlessly kicked away possession. We were very competitive but lacked creativity
France are overhyped. Yes they beat the All Blacks on home soil last year but they wouldn’t beat them in New Zealand or the Boks for that matter.

The WRU should hang their heads in shame and learn from the sensible pricing structure the FAW have had in place for a number of years.
They have also starved the regions of proper funding. All four regions are pretty hopeless these days. The days of tickets being rarely available for Six Nations home games are long gone. The complacency of the WRU combined with their stupidity knows no bounds.
As someone who has struggled to get to a Glamorgan T20 game on a Friday night with 5000 in attendance what on earth are the WRU doing playing a match on such an evening. I dread to think how bad the traffic issues were both pre and post match.

Wasn’t it Wales and France who instigated Friday night games? Think that maybe why they’ve been lumbered with them

Yes they were the only ones interested but it’s not set in stone and I don’t think we will see Friday night matches going forward. If they want a night match play it on a Saturday night when work traffic won’t be a problem.

Re: Wales v France Six Nations Unsold Tickets

    I don't think it's traffic or prices

I think it's a case of can't be arsed and the rugby obsessed welsh not being that at all

When CCFC or whatever team you support have a game somewhere on a Friday night with no trains you find a way to be there if it costs 60 quid

But some are put off and some can't afford it

But apparently we as a nation .....love our rugby......

10000 seats empty shows that isn't the case

A friend gave me a couple of free tickets for myself and my daughter. It took us just under four hours to get from Reading to my usual parking spot in Canton. An hour 45 back! The tickets were in the upper tier at £100 a pop. As you say massively overpriced.

Enjoyed the event. We seemed to be in a part of the ground where there were more French fans than most. They were mostly young and it provided a lively atmosphere. Don't know whether it was this but there was far less too and fro for beer than the previous game I attended against Italy about four years ago. Still there were a number of fans around us who seemed perfectly sensible pre match who were talking absolute drivel by its end from the beers they consumed.

Might be biased and a consequence of the empty seats but the anthem was not a patch on how it has been at recent games at the Cardiff City Stadium. Delayed a bit on the walkway along the Taff at the end as a poor guy was being given CPR. It looked a futile cause but hopefully they brought him back.

I think they get more TV money for the Friday games.

It wasn't just stay-away Wales fans contributing to the crowd. There were less French there aswell, put off by uncertainty over potential covid travel restrictions and taking more time off work.
