Apologies for the anonymous nature of this message, which will be my one and only post on this subject. Please be assured that the information contained herein is genuine and now this is out in the open, direct questions need to be asked of our club.
Now that the curtain has come down on Cardiff's season, there is some very important news that everyone needs to be made aware of. In recent weeks, deals have been agreed with Cardiff's largest creditors, which paves the way for the Malaysians to take full control of the club during the summer. Bankrolled by Vincent Tan, manager Malky Mackay will be provided with a war chest to take Cardiff to the Premier League, stadium expansion plans will go ahead and a multi-million pound training facility will be built. All this may sound like everything we have been waiting for, but there is one bitter pill to swallow. Cardiff City is about to be completely re-branded in a manner which goes against a century of our history.
Cardiff City will play in red next season. The dragon will become the major emblem on the club badge and the stadium will literally turn red. This change has been ordered by Vincent Tan and a red home kit and blue away kit have already been agreed for next season. The club intend to announce these changes over the next few days.
The investment into Cardiff City by the Malaysians over the last two years has been very welcome and almost certainly saved us from going into administration. It now seems that they are ready to take the next step and assume full control, but intend riding roughshod over our identity and changing our football club into something none of us will recognise or be able to identify with.
Cardiff City have played in blue since 1908. We won the FA Cup and competed in the top flight in those colours, we are the Bluebirds. A huge part of our identity, history and tradition are bound up in the colours, badge and nickname of the club.
The Malaysians MUST NOT be allowed to proceed with these plans and destroy decades of history and tradition. There may be some fans that say so what, it doesn't matter what colour we play in as long as the club is progressing. Well if that is the case, just why do they want to change our identity? It smacks of a lack of knowledge of what a football club consists of and begs the question of what other changes are planned?
What's next? A change of name? Will we become the Cardiff Dragons? Hasn't the example of the local rugby club changing its colours, badge, nickname and ground yet losing its identity and much of its fanbase taught us anything?
These plans have pressed ahead without any consultation. Mr Tan, we are glad to have you involved with our foootball club, but not at the expense of our history. Sam Hammam aired similar ideas but ultimately listened when the club's support objected en masse.
Steve Borley, as a man we can trust on the current board of directors, we need you to publically condemn these plans. Malky Mackay, you have united the fans behind you this season and as man who knows of the importance of tradition at football clubs, we need you to speak out and impress upon our investors that these plans need to be nipped in the bud before it's too late. To the local press, the new Labour led Cardiff Council and our local MP's and AM's, we need you to use whatever influence you can wield to ensure that the traditions of the City's football club are upheld.
Now is the time for the various supporters groups, rival messageboards and Cardiff fans from all walks of life to unite and ask the football club to come clean about their plans. They need to understand in no uncertain terms that we will not support a re-branded Cardiff City, no matter what the consequences may be. I would rather support my team playing in League Two rather than a team I no longer recognise as my own. Cardiff City play in blue, we are the Bluebirds.
Little did we know back then just how high a percentage of City fans would either shrug their shoulders and meekly accept the re-brand or actively support it.
On a personal level, I learned a great deal from this episode. It changed everything for me and plenty of others, although in reality we were in a small minority.
The acceptance of the red by so many was the worst part of the whole thing for me. I've never been much of a football shirt wearer anyway, but I'd never buy anything with the word Malaysia or the Chinese dragon on it. Your average football fan these days, almost as fickle as those in Asia who sometimes just follow a player rather than a team and support whoever he plays for. South Wales is the glory hunting capital of the uk without a doubt. Embarrassing

I remember saying at the time it was never going to last. I don't know why some thought it would. There was far far more blue in the stadium in the Premier league season than their would have been otherwise. It united the fan base really. The blue scarfs on 19.27 moments were special and high profile, embarrassing to the owner.
Even when we won the league Vincent tan walked out to collect the trophy with the crowd singing well always be blue at him. Likewise the celebration down the bay.
I know people say about the free red scarfs at the Brighton game but that was just because they were free and it was cold. It wasn't because of any love for the red, it would have been the same had the scarfs been green or pink.
Maybe if I thought it would stay id have felt differently but I always thought blue would return so it didn't really bother me. Just another crazy chapter in the history of Cardiff city football club.
What's that got to do with it? How were fans who carried on going when we played in red fickle or glory hunting? Even when Russell slade managed us? Really?

Seeing so many fans wearing their free red scarves at that Brighton game was horrible. At the same time though it was reassuring to see many reject it.
In a way that episode was a catalyst for the campaign that followed.
I didn't want red I didn't want to buy anything red all I knew was it was for a limited time.
I'm not knocking anyone who gave up or who kept going.
All I know is a few that bought the red shirts don't go anymore and a few that stopped going have come back and a few that didn't have not come back.
All I can say for myself at the time was when we lost it still hurt and when we won it still felt great.

Let me ask you a question: if Cardiff City had stayed up in 2013/14 and subsequently established themselves as a Premier League club, do you think Vincent Tan would have reversed his ridiculous re-brand?

Yes. He wouldn't have wanted to but ultimately it would have been up to the fans who carried on going to keep embarrassing him-and embarrass him they did on a world scale. I remember the game at anfield where sky were mocking tan and a few others being in red at anfield but the entire away end was blue.
As long as the fan base was dressed in blue (an act mocked by many at the time) and singing blue songs etc I do think it would have been reversed.
Fair enough. I think there's zero chance it would have happened, but there we go.

Wasn't it down as someone's first post and lots of speculation of who it was - wrongly berated/abused at the time if I remember rightly
Shit period in our history but personally I don't think anyone was wrong or right whatever they decided to do in terms of going/not going - it was a personal decision

I didnt buy anything red, though my mum got me a car sticker ( well its on suction cups ) as she does every year, this year it was in Red
we were still Cardiff City, still the same fans , in the grand scheme of things nothing had changed in that aspect, we just played in a different colour shirt ( which was wrong )
