A bit of excitement concerning Ollie Tanner, It's a massive jump, but who knows...
I can think of three who came straight from Non league and did brilliantly for us.
Cohen
Bartlett
Delaney
Any more?
I think Gary Bell did
Peter King
Paul Parry.
George Andrews came with Gary Bell from Lower Gornal Athletic, just checked on George, 21 goals in 43 appearances, not too shabby at all. The emergence of Tosh, also Bobby Brown & Georgie Johnston at the club may have pushed him down the pecking order but what we wouldn’t give for a striker with that goal to game ratio now.
Matt Green.
Gary Stevens
Gerry Hitchens (who was quite good!)
Neil O’Halloran came from Cardiff Corries, scored a hat trick in his debut against Charlton in the top flight while still a teenager........then faded from the pro game after a few more games for us, and one more goal, went to Newport for a short spell. Mostly remembered for his prosperous firm Erection & Welding and his bankrolling of Barry Town. The rewards for a fledgling business man were more attractive than for a first division footballer in the ‘50s perhaps. He certainly made his fortune.
Dai Thomas?
I haven't a clue where he came from but Shirley it was from but doubt it was league club.
John Lewis, Peter King.
One player City should have signed from non league was Dai Webley. Guy was a goal machine.
Jim Eadie was signed from Kirkintilloch Rob Roy I think they were called.
