Any insight in the delay in publishing the retained list?
It makes it look like at least one out of contract player’s fate is undecided.
Us and West Brom are the only clubs in all 4 Divisions who have yet to show their retained list.
West Ham also havent announced their list.
Think ive read somewhere the EFL publish them the 2nd week in June.
The nation is holding its breath waiting for the CCFC retained list and the Sue Gray report.
The outcome of the Court for Arbitration in Sport is a valid point. I would imagine that the club have factored in a negative outcome into the overall club budget for the forthcoming season and consequently their activities in the transfer market. If it is a positive outcome and let's hope so, then £15m would be written back from the balance sheet. This would vastly improve the Profit and Sustainability position but I imagine would not improve the availability of funds. No doubt Keith could confirm this.
Still no decision from the Michael Isaacs case yet either.
The provision is £20m.
You’re right, though. If Cardiff City are found to not owe Nantes, then it just means they can unwind the provision in their accounts, but sadly, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there is £20m sitting in the bank.
It puts things into perspective. This was a young man’s life and it’s become an ugly business.
As far as I know there are multiple ways of posting a provision both with and without actually having the money. Just because there’s a provision doesn’t mean the money is physically available.
Hopefully Keith to the rescue.
