  • Club badges - any good examples?

Why do clubs make such a mess of a simple emblem?

Ours is crap with the worm at the bottom and that fiddly scrollwork.

Others have had them redesigned in recent years (Wednesday's sticks in my head) and created ugly and expensive or bland and expensive failures.

Swansea were crowing about their new badge yesterday - and it is awful! A swan scratching its arse on a castle turret, tiny and faint numbers for the year of formation, and 'City AFC' detached at the bottom with 'Swansea' at the top.

Are there any good examples out there? Apart from the traditional badges of clubs like Barnsley that look out-dated but have history on their sides. I understand we all have different opinions on design and aesthetics, but there seems to be a fair consensus on what is bad. But good recent designs?

Everton is their original badge isn't it? I like Blackburn's but not the club.

Years ago club badges and emblems could be more intricate as they were generally produced as embroidered items. These days, simpler versions make it easier to reproduce them digitally.

            Sm Caen and Orlando pirates.

Always wanted ours to just be a bluebird, maybe with just Cardiff City going around it. That's it.

            Simplicity is key

Dunfermlines is brilliant - designed by an arts teacher in the town in the 1960s I believe. Sampdorias is equally class although no one knows what it is

British ones generally are okay I think. Quite classy. Spanish generally good. Italian also. German badges by contrast are awful - Look at Nurnburg, Kaiserslautern, Dortmund etc. Nothing to them.

The recent Swansea one , wolves , Derby, forest

Very recognisable , wether they looked good is another matter

I like ours but without that stupid dragon

The one hammam brought in on promotion to the championship was rubbish

They're mainly awful because of copyright. The older ones (ie the good badges) can be replicated by anyone.

I always liked the old Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal badges. Simple. Iconic. I think Spurs and Liverpool are back to using them now, but Arsenal still have a (completely unnecessary in my opinion) crest. For a crest, I think the Norwich badge is decent. I wish we still played with a simple bluebird on a white circle. I always found our 80's badge a little busy. Our current badge is an abomination.

The A.F.C. is awful. Why? Just crap.

The new Spurs one is decent, mainly as it looks like a Spurs badge.

I don't mind the Wolves badge. Simple, effective and using the same colours they've always had. Also no words, but none are needed.
