Quite some tasks for buzz ball showing as a 20% win chance ??
18 for 0 off 17 balls
Decent start but the obligatory collapse is overdue after the Kiwi run chases.
And seconds later Pope gone.
If only I had a tenner on it!
Get to 30 overs 269 to win ,Bairstow and Stokes may have fun with the softer ball ??
I started to watch and we hadn't lost a wicket. a few minutes later we are 3 down.
turned it off again as obviously I am bad luck.
bit confused as to how this is the 5th test?
Probably putting the kiss of death on Bairstow, who I often said was not up to test cricket, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a batsman in such great form over such a long period.
Absolutely crazy. Poor team, playing poorly are about to win their 4th game in a row. Can't remember ever seeing this level of 4th innings performances so consistently. Throw in Glamorgan 'doing an England' themselves, and it's been a very strange month of cricket.
Bairstows performances have been incredible. Can see him pumping up his teammates and draining the opposition bowlers . Awful from the Indian bowlers mind.
If England win tomorrow, and win easily, the victory will be even more incredible than the NZ wins. It just doesn't seem possible to better the other chases but this will be something else.
Just hope Bairstows form carries forward to the Hundred next month.
Stokes's appointment as captain has had a massive influence of the team's mindset and the positive attitude of the batsman getting after the bowler at every opportunity seems to be working.
Bairstow in particular has been playing one day shots and is in superb form, though it has to be said he has had a bit of fortune.
I have to admit, I am not a big fan of white ball cricket but its introduction has got batsmen playing all kinds of shots with the players rewriting the test match batting manual.
Out has gone the "don't give your wicket away cheaply".
The improvisation brought in from the Twenty 20 form of the game, at the moment anyway, looks to be paying dividends.
If England win today which seems highly likely it will be their highest total set to win ever.
Question is, is this attitude sustainable in Test cricket?
Root reaches his century, Bairstow on 92, currently 319-3.
Root is making the game seem simple.
Unbelievable stroke play.
Incredible. 4 successful run chases. A huge turnaround from the Winter/Spring.
“Boring” is not the right word for it, but it was all so predictable- there was barely a moment during the morning when England looked like losing a wicket, let alone the game.
Remarkable
I love Test Cricket, but I'm also starting to miss the tension it used to serve up.🙂
By tension do you mean watching a horror show of capitulation by the England middle order.
Strangely I kind of understand what you mean but I am going to have to bank the last four test match results in anticipation of normally service being resumed shortly/ when the Aussies turn up.
