Another winger, and rightly so.
Of course we need a decent striker (or two), but with 5 subs allowed this season, the squad depth will be critical.
Philogene-Bidace, Ojo, O'dowda and Tanner are natural wingers and I don't think 4 is too many. With Tanner a real unknown quantity at this level, that leaves 3 plus Davies, Colwill and Whyte who can play on the wing but I think Morison sees none of them as wingers (apart from Whyte maybe), although all can be deployed on the wing if needed.
Looking at our squad I don't think it is too big with the 5 subs allowed, just have many more options than we are used to.
Yeah, I keep forgetting about the 5 subs. That's going to be weird too. I know we had this during the Covid season but it'll be strange to get used to it. Not sure how I feel about it but it will make things more strategically interesting I suppose.
It's getting closer now and the excitement is starting to build.
Article two years old but encouraging to read about our new loan signing.

The downsde of five subs is that it helps the bigger clubs with bigger squads and more money, but we must be quick out of the blocks to use it to our advantage and make the most of the change, we have a decent squad and it looks like a good few game changers waiting in the wings!
Some glowing references from a journalist who covers Villa;-

Really interesting article embedded into the one you posted about his time at the pro academy

Villa won't be pleased if he spends the season on the bench. Presumably there was some agreement that he will play regularly.
