I know someone who now replaces every ‘have’ with ‘of’ and is convinced it is proper English. An example would be - ‘Of you ever been abroad’ or ‘What do you usually of for breakfast’. This came about because of the widespread use of ‘could of’ instead of ‘could have’ and the fact that no one ever corrects it any more. It is, basically, gibberish.
There’s quite an amusing sub Reddit (for those that Reddit) dedicated to getting phrases wrong. It’s called boneAppleTea - in homage to the girl that thought that’s what ‘bon appetite’ was!
