Are we 100% sure these decesions were his only and not based on advise from groups like Sage ,didn't Wales & Scotland take the same independent decesions that were wrong ??
It's easy to blame extremely difficult decisions that go wrong from ones social media platform especially if your anti Tory or anti Hancock.
I need someone to highlight if Hancocks decesions around care hones was wrong why didn't other parties shout or SNP and Labour adopt alternative tactic , in Wales the nightingale hospitals were under used or not used ,so empty beds to provide relief was an option ..
Interestingly Welsh Government is not keen on an independent review of mistakes made and learning lessons ..??
Perhaps Drakeford needs a to jungle invite as he didn't make any mistakes , although folks died in Welsh care hones
Hancock was part of a government that failed to prepare for the pandemic - failed to carry through the lessons of its various gaming exercises years before that predicted something like Covid would hit soon. Lack of testing, lack of PPE, inadequate guidance and training, and all the other own-goals. He was also at the centre of a government misinformation campaign about the reasons for the care home Covid catastrophe, and the conditions in care homes after the first wave of deaths. He was spinning and lying for months (or years).
He wasn't solely responsible for the decision to discharge elderly and vulnerable hospital patients to care homes without tests and without adequate protection. But he was at the heart of decision making. If Dominic Cummins can be believed Hancock was at the heart of the lies and cover up too.
Giving him a free pass on this, or playing the 'they're all as bad as each other' card, is desperate.
This piece from the bmj is interesting and (I think) fair:
