Filmed at the end of the summer I think , Cardiff University
It was on BBC2 the other night
Christ it was hard work watching that
He's not a heavy rock guitarist or somebody I would be into but some of his early stuff is quite lively
But the audience were half asleep and so was he
Maybe if they stuck flowers down their pants he might have felt at home and played a few encores
Or was that Depeche Mode ?
We're all guilty
You couldn't name a better guitarist than Johnny Marr.
I saw him about 10 years ago and he was incredible.
Here you go, off the top of my head: Paul Kossoff, Jimi Hendrix, Al 'Bind Owl' Wilson' Duane Allman, Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, Ed King, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Peter Bullick. Eric Bell, Brian Robertson. Scott Gorham, Johnny Winter, Steve Cropper. I'm going to stop there, as I'll be typing all day.
I saw Johnny Marr with the Smiths way back in September '84 at Cardiff Uni. The band bored the pants off me....
Big mouth strikes again
The Smiths were a very good band and Marr was a good guitarist but he wasn't a GREAT
Morrisey is a very odd bloke . From an immigrant family himself yet he wraps himself in a union jack and talks cobblers about race ?
I personally don't think he's a racist I just think he's an arsehole and doing it to sell records
I think he was the driving force behind every great melody they produced and a very good guitarist. Unfortunately I recently listened to his autobiography on Audible and although he seems like a perfectly decent bloke, boy was it boring.

I read his biography a few years back got about half way through and gave up.
I met Johnny Marr, in a posh Italian Manchester restaurant at breakfast time a couple of years ago, i have to say he was an absolute gent and a lovely guy. Got photos with him and was happy to chat.
I really enjoyed it. I really liked how candid he was. He was both humble, yet not afraid to acknowledge that he was in a hugely important band and has written some amazing songs.
I've met him a few times. He's a top bloke. He's a big Man City fan. The last time, we talked about football for about an hour. It was when we were in the EPL with Warnock.
