I believe England are closer than ever to bridging the gap between themselves and the world's top teams but there's no Mbappe, Messi, Ronaldo or their like to give them that final shove or instil true belief in themselves. As for Gareth Southgate I really like him and he's produced a team England can be proud of. I don't think any other manager could have got more out of the players.
I remember Rob. He was the guy who forgot to log onto one of his other accounts to agree with himself. Comedy gold!

Nice bloke, crap manager. The game was there for the taking last night, he sat on his hands. He's far too negative. He has absolutely no idea to get a tune out of Foden, either.
6 and a half years ago….
The final they reached was 17 months ago. In that tournament we crashed out in humiliation in the Ro16.
They’ve also got to a semi final of a World Cup we didn’t qualify for and the quarter finals of a World Cup we were, once again, knocked out of in humiliation.
None of our squad would make their starting 11, I reckon none would make a 7 man subs bench apart from maybe Ben Davies.
Nice guy or not, he should have gone ages ago.
Not sure what planet it is where England aren’t much better than us, but it’s certainly not planet earth. They are miles ahead of us.
I've been happily laughing at England and calling them shit almost every year since 1990. But unfortunately right now they're very clearly not shit so I can't take the piss.
I think you're guilty of knowing little about football, as evidenced earlier in the thread when you seemed to think Belgium win tournaments.
I've had a downer on the English team forever but even I can see that this group of players are far, far better that the team with Lampard, Gerrard and Beckham in, the so called Golden Generation. Gerrard's short passing game was garbage and other than his dead ball expertise Beckham was bang average.
This team plays the game more fluently and can compete with the best, hence their appearance in a major final last year. They may experience some psychological effects from their recent near misses but from a football perspective they are knocking on the door.
As for Wales, it pains me to say it but they are not on the same planet as this England team.
