Do you consider yourself elderly or have health conditions?

If not 19 degree's is a fairly comfortable temperature for a healthy person. I work from home and have mine set to 15 degrees, I do not find it particularly cold

But do wear suitable clothes such as warm socks, slippers and multiple layers: vest / t-shirt and hoody
Apart from a jacket that's more than I was wearing to work...outdoors

Hi Dan, just went on the Scottish Power website and switched - Octopus try to mislead you (could think of a better word) it is the tariffs you need to focus on not so much the estimate for the year (which in my opinion are exaggerated by Octopus)

    Re: Gas prices

Can only speak for Electricity costs here in the Dordogne. Has recently been around 7-8 degrees, now around 12-13 degrees.
Standing charges here are based on max amount of energy input to the house, although the cost per kw is the same.
Most people have 12 or 15KVA input. We are a large house (238m2) and need 18KVA input.

We are not on any fixed tariff, but costs are pretty much the same as 2021. There is also peak and off peak tariffs - 89% of our energy is cheap rate overnight (under floor heating plus hot water tank). We don't need the heating on daytime unless is goes down to around 10/12 degrees, and then only for an hour or two.. Mostly if it goes below that we light a large woodburner (bought and installed for €3000 four years ago). We have woodland so no need to BUY logs).

Overall our annual cost for 2021 was around €4000....same for 2022. From January the price goes up by 4%.....but still seems way way better than the rip off UK..
