Yeah I think its just Hurst and Charlton
Cohen and Wilson I’m guessing must have been about the oldest of the 1966 team ? The reason I say that is my football memories seem to start around 1970, and these are the only two players I don’t remember. Had they retired by then?
George Cohen was one of the younger players at 26, but he retired through injury in 1969 when 29. Ray Wilson and Jack Charlton were the only two of the final team in their 30s, though Ron Springett, Jimmy Armfield and Ron Flowers from the squad were all 30 or 31.
Brian Moore was calling George Eastman the “old man” when he scored the winning goal in the 1972 League Cup Final. He’s eighty six now, Terry Paine’s eighty three, Bobby Charlton eighty five, Ian Callaghan eighty and Geoff Hurst eighty one - I’m always taken by how well the last named looks and sounds when I see him now.
Interestingly seven of the German team are still alive.
Uwe Seeller Hamburg. My first season
Who was the other member of the 1966 World Cup Final team who played for Hamburg that night?
Having seen the recording of the 1966 World Cup about a year ago, I had forgotten that substitutes weren't allowed and players were running around suffering with cramp in extra time.
