Thread: Nadhim Zahawi

    Nadhim Zahawi

Surely his position is untenable. We hold our politicians to a higher standard, and ministers must be held higher again. Now I don't necessarily disagree with ministers or MP's operating within the spirit (rather than the letter) of the law regarding tax planning, in this case it would appear there was no real reason for the family trust to be based in Gibraltar, save for tax avoidance upon disposal of the family business.

If that was not bad enough, we then have the situation whereby Zahawi continually denied any investigation and/or wrongdoing. How can the government expect everyone to pay their fair dues on time every time, when the man who was tasked with managing the nations cash didn't think the rules applied to him. And what makes this worse, Sunak is now refusing to sack the minister without portfolio.

Don't forget him getting his legal team to threaten the person who originally started asking the questions with 'consequences'. Possibly the worst part of the whole saga because that would normally stop the story in its tracks (and I imagine it works more often than not).

    Slimeball and needs to go.
