Reading stayed up last season with 41 points. We are currently on 29. 6 draws and 2 wins would see us end the season on 41 points.

As mentioned by a previous poster, concentrate not losing first and foremost.

A draw against Boro would not be the end of the world considering their current form.

The importance of a vociferous CCS cannot be underestimated either.
Reading had 6 points deducted last season, Derby 12.
Reading would've gone down on goal difference on 47 points.

Yes, we need to get behind the team from the first whistle until the last one.

The away support are fantastic and long may that continue.

If he can't put in one decent cross, there is no point in selecting him.

Was meant to be a reply to an Ojo related post. I might get the hang of this one day - perhaps when Ojo puts in a good cross. Don't hold your breath.

He’s still one of our main threats (that’s what is most concerning).

The whole squad do the basics appallingly. I’ve lost count at how many times I’ve screamed, “beat the first Fcking man”. It’s a basic footballing skill.

I shouldn’t be watching a team in the Championship and thinking at the age of 43, and with pins and plates in my ankle, “I could put a better ball in the box”. It’s infuriating.

What we can start doing is to try and win football matches, from the first kick, take some risks, stop playing a deep line in defence, which has helped us not concede but hinders our attacking options, because we always have 2 midfield players sitting in to negate the gap between the defence and forwards. At some point a team has to come out to play, not just sit in, in the hope that they don't concede and maybe pinch a goal. Our whole shape is conservative, our play is conservative, we either put the ball wide or bang it up to robinson with a non supporting midfield. I'd rather see us go for these wins and accept that mistakes will happen and gaps may be left, but it's this toe dipping shit that rankles me, it's a sure sign of a lack of belief, and other teams and managers sniff it out.

We needed fresh blood, fresh legs this month. They didn't have to world-beaters, just an influx of 3 or 4 who would give a change of mentality on the pitch. Are we going down ? Probably. Can we stay up ? Possibly. Should we have done more to avoid it ? Definitely.

We have players out there who don't fancy it, i'm not bothered if they're not good enough, that's most of us anyway. Just show some fight and honesty, i'm sure that we can all get behind that and forgive failure. Some of them aren't even putting themselves in that position.

It was said a few days back that Graham Stack was responsible for set piece training as well as goalkeeping.

Our corners, free kicks, penalties and crosses (not dead balls, but often similar problems of movement and missing first man) have been poor most of the season.

Improve those basics, and with some height now up front, we should see things they call goals in foreign parts.

Yes, great idea to leave us defensively exposed.

Secondly, it's not the midfield passing around half way that's the problem, it's a general lack of creativity and poor striking options. No amount of whack it up there and hope for a bit of luck will change that.

    Rebuild the squad.
    Hopefully, not from League One.
This squad is f*cked thanks to the "best transfer window ever"...

Hopefully we can at least stave off relegation with this best squad ever.

The “best transfer window ever” comment really is proving to be the most ridiculous thing anyone has ever said, in the history of planet earth.

We've played more direct in the last two games. At Luton we played long down the channels to no effect. Yesterday we had two 6ft+ strikers on for half an hour and still looked toothless. I'm not sure what the answer is but I doubt hoofball will solve our problems.

I've racked by old brain over this, but frankly I just cannot see how we get out of this mess. We just do not have the players, we are lightweight in too many positions.
The January window was crying out for 3 or 4 experienced pros, but because of the embargo fiasco we get 1 from abroad and even his record leaves a lot to be desired.
Horrible feeling the thought of relegation to Div 1 after over 20 years.

I thought it was Mehmet, although I honestly can't remember myself.
I certainly remember someone at the club saying pretty much that though.

    Sounds like something he’d say.

Why is it such a problem for so many posters to say League One (aka Division Three)? For all those condemning us to Division One, I admire your optimism, but I think promotion is beyond us this season.

And FWIW I think most of us share that 'horrible feeling', but still have hope it can be avoided.

After Hudson's first three games a lot of the talk (posters, media, staff) was about taking our scoring chances and we could be in the play offs - the other parts of the picture looked fairly good. Wales Online wrote pieces about the 'undroppable eight'. But since then those same players have lost confidence and stopped doing what they were doing in the autumn. They are capable of getting back to those levels with good coaching, strong leadership and re-found confidence. Maybe the discovery of a No 9 in Etete, the return of a fit A Game Izaak Davies, and with a surprise impact from our new signing the corner can be turned. Colwill coming good would be another bonus - if increasingly unlikely.

I think it all comes down to Sabri Lamouchi.

I think that Sabri needs to get us playing on the front foot and much more aggressive, which is something i believe he will try and do. It's the quickest and easiest fix, and with the signing of this new striker there could be a chance with Robison playing around him, coming in from a wide position.

That's been suggested for months but people have wanted to pass our way out of trouble . It's too late for that .

Get the ball into the box from corners , free kicks , throw ins , use the aerial threat we now have and encourage the midfield to support the front two instead of there being a huge gap .

Against Luton Robinson sent a lovely ball over and unfortunately it landed perfectly onside and unmarked to Wintle and he royally fluffed his lines, much to the amusement of the home fans. Hopefully Kaba can run the channels as a effective target man going into the last 16 games. Isaac Davies needs to at least be on the Bench imho. Sawyers and Simpson must be on thin ice to be regular starters after their recent performances on stats alone. Keep the faith in the SL revolution 22/23

This ongoing form implosion can be traced to an exact date in early November last year. It was shortly after a fine win at Sunderland and prior to Hull's visit.

The chairman appeared in the Wales capital for the first time in almost three years. He gave an optimistic interview in which he implied funds would be made available for new recruits in January. He also thought a play-off finish was possible.

    That interview is here: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/63562667

Since then only five points have been gained from 11 Championship games. What the hell's gone wrong?

My own theory is a rotten Jack innocently wandered into Bute Park just as darkness was about to descend. He espied Vinny lent back against a tree oohing and aahing with delight as a kneeling male figure (likely to be a poster here called DML) lovingly removed one of his shoes before peeling back a sock and proceeding to greedily suck his big toe.

The campervan owner took a series of highly compromising images which he threatened to make public if the club appeared in next season's Championship.

Ever since Vinnie's been on the blower to the manager before each game to instruct which team to select. The starting 11 always include a minimum of three duds.
