If he wants him why is it taking so long.
Contract negotiations.
Won't be easy if Wickham's pushing for a good deal. Given his injury record, we'd be daft to chance anything more than about 5k per week for the rest of the season.
Maybe add goal bonuses to bump it up if he does manage to do the seemingly impossible, and score!
I think that we have enough bang average "strikers". What we need is someone, anyone, who can play in midfield and can tick at least one of the boxes below:
pass a ball to a teammate
not lose the ball to the opposition
cross a ball
take a free kick
take a corner
make a run into the box
There are probably more boxes that could be added.
Pretty pointless signing for me. Maybe five years ago but now it reeks of desperation.
Do we create many chances ?
I think our goal record suggests we don't
I don't think there are many games where we have stuck everything over the bar ?
A couple of quality midfielders who can do what you suggest and provide our front men with opportunities is exactly what we needed
It's too late now though it would seem
We're certainly not at the bottom of the attempts on goal chart. Our conversion rate is around 9%, which is far lower than any other side in the division.
I'm not saying we're this hugely creative side, because we're not, but we have a big issue with taking chances.
He’s the only one that looks capable in that role.
His finishing in the warm up was lethal (and the only one (along with Davies) that looked like a natural goalscorer). Problem is it’s easy to finish in the warm up, we don’t get him into positions where he can finish as we don’t have the playmakers to feed him effectively.

Connor Wickham deal on brink of completion
Cardiff boss Sabri Lamouchi says he hopes to have Connor Wickham available for Tuesday night's trip to Birmingham City.
The Frenchman saw his side go down 3-1 to high-flying Middlesbrough on Saturday but it will be the clash against the Blues where he'll be more accurately judged.
Having more firepower on board should, in theory, help Cardiff in their quest to wriggle free from the Championship relegation zone and a deal to sign Wickham is now on the brink of completion.
On the prospect of the 29-year-old free agent signing, the Bluebirds boss said: "I hope he will sign very quickly. I hope to have him for Birmingham City.
"Let me talk about the players who are available for the club. As soon as he signs we will put him in the squad. How he can help us. He is just a Championship player, with his experience, his goals and he is strong and has quality as well.
"That's why we are trying to sign him."
Sign him quickly before Warnock rings him!
Seems odd that we haven't signed him yet if we're going to.
Obviously not match fit or anywhere near, as we would have signed him by now.
