According to the modelling its appears this may be the case, but it’s modelling. They said the Great Barrier Reef would disappear however contrary to the modelling it’s thriving.
10 polluters
China, with more than 10,065 million tons of CO2 released.
United States, with 5,416 million tons of CO2.
India, with 2,654 million tons of CO2.
Russia, with 1,711 million tons of CO2.
Japan, 1,162 million tons of CO2.
Germany, 759 million tons of CO2.
Iran, 720 million tons of CO2.
These are the countries that we need to focus on before we take drastic action here.
You probably framed the question wrong. It's like asking everyone if they have stopped beating their wife yet.
To answer the question is to be a climate denier. Very few are.
What is the case is that some people probably have different opinions to you on how to best deal with it.
For example, if you don't think people should be prosecuted for vandalism or serious disruption to others lives, I would suggest you are setting back the climate agenda, not helping it. That's a reasonable position and is taken with a firm belief that man made climate change is real.
Because there are no easy answers. Why don't you propose 5 thing you would like to happen to help address climate change?
There are people in this thread who are climate change deniers though.
1. Replace the majority of our energy supply with Nuclear Power Stations, this should have been done in the 80s/90s/2000s, this is one of the things I actually agree with Thatcher on
2. Massive investment in public transport and cycling infrastructure over cars
3. Worldwide effort into Fusion technology
4. Worldwide effort into carbon capture technology in the air and via the oceans. You might think this is a pie in the sky idea but the oceans are acidifying, the consequences of this left unchecked are devastating, human civilisation suffer badly.
5. Plant about a trillion trees
A lot these are easier said than done, three should have been done already, two we're just making token efforts really. The longer we wait the more painful the economic consequences.
I largely agree, although I'm not sure what 'effort into' entails.
Real big mistake of Germany to get rid of nuclear. I must say I have never really understood the greens vehement opposition to it, which I think has lessened in time.
I'm not really anti car either. I'd welcome far more focus on how we are actually using energy, our reliance on phones, global supply chains, 'next day delivery', things like that that really add.
I know so many people who think they are green but they really aren't.
Like this person - hmmmmm
Extinction Rebellion leader drives gas-guzzling diesel car and buys imported food from other side of world
https://www.gbnews.com/news/extincti...l-car-shopping
Scientists estimate that transporting food around the world accounts for approximately six per cent of the globe’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Humans alone make up about 20%
So Brexit displayed economically sustainable ideas/ideals in your opinion?
Green Party suffers majorly from FPTP and just the fact that their core message makes people feel a bit guilty...
Is pollution good? Probably more a question for Mozzer than anybody else in this thread so far.
CCMBs regular Nr Nice Guy being his usual pleasant self I see!
You have more time than me , but I read it the other day , if you can provide alternative commentary, then I’d be happy to be proved wrong
As an aside , I’m all for climate change I just wish the information available through official sources was more balanced. It appears that many scientists with an alter view of what is essentially modelling appear few and far between
of course its a concern when it comes to climate but i'd rather listen and observe scientists rather than the usual propaganda machine that's forced upon us every day . Noticed even the weather woman on GMTV ramming it down our throats every day at every opportunity these days too
mass formation psychosis at the heart of everything these days !
another geo scientist having there say
Australian geologist, Ian Plimer, on the climate doomsday cult:
— Wide Awake Media (@wideawake_media) April 22, 2023
"Every single prediction they've ever made has been wrong. They still haven't, after 30 years, shown us that human emissions [of CO2] drive global warming."
"If you cannot show that human emissions of carbon… pic.twitter.com/94HF2o9BoJ
Person funded by the coal mining industry says climate change isn't real shocker.
Here's a quote from this person 'we aren't emitting carbon because carbon is black and we don't see anything black come from cars'
Primary school students can tell this man is talking nonsense and you should be embarrassed you used him as 'evidence'.
I think he means he'd rather listen to the 0.1% of scientists who say what he wants to hear, than the 99.9% who don't.
Because if you're listening to the scientific community as a whole, there's only one conclusion.
Enlightened centrist is a term for people who claim to be in the centre and look at both sides honestly.
Every time someone says this they always turn out to be very very right wing.
Here's a list of other examples of this phenomena https://www.reddit.com/r/ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM/top/?t=all
See this is the problem with the internet. You can always find some totally random thing somewhere (in this case, Reddit) to back up some completely made up 'phenomena'.
You claim it's 'another' example of something, but perhaps you can stick to finding a single example in the first place - what have I said on here that is 'very very right wing'? You've just made it up.
Good luck finding it! What I said is that the green movement needs to be socially and economically sustainable to succeed and to take people with them. Not only is that not 'very very right wing' (if anything it's probably left of centre, because it's willing support for environmental sustainability) it also happens to be true.
You are rather making my point for me to be honest, so thanks for that!
Now, to keep this debate about planet earth firmly on planet earth, please find that example of something I've said here that is 'very very right wing'. You imply we should listen to evidence, so let's see how good you are are finding any. 👍
Also interested to know what lifestyle changes you have made to try and address climate change? Cos ranting on the internet doesn't do it.
