Shut for 20 minutes towards Grangetown tomorrow
Isn't it always shut until the fans clear off?
Shut to pedestrians? It's always shut to cars..
Bristol City game
— Cardiff City SLO (@CardiffCitySLO) October 27, 2023
Sloper Rd will be closed in the direction of Penarth Rd/ Grangetown for c20minutes at the end of the match.
The decision was taken in the interest of public safety and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Also no access to family stand via away compound. pic.twitter.com/ayngMax8OE
Brizzies mini buses should be easier to catch then with the 20mph and road closures in place.
Do they still keep fans in after games? That always struck me as a human rights violation.
Makes sense to me to give the away fans a 20 minute head start to make their way to the station. Wasn't a Cardiff fan assaulted on that stretch after a Bristol game a few years ago?
Anyone know if they are going to do the Swansea thing and close the main entrance to the main car park. It causes chaos!
They did that last season and I personally was annoyed because I wasn’t aware of it before hand and had to take a massive detour all the way round Hadfield Rd to get to my car, which was parked near that big sports field the other side of Sloper Rd.
And before anyone says that it ensures that rival fans won’t mix after the game…the worst part of the “meant well” plan, to keep the rival supporters apart, was the fact that the extra hundreds/thousands of City fans that had to walk down Leckwith road in one direction had tthe wonderful sight of hundreds of Bristol fans walking past us from the other direction, as they must also have been prevented from going that way.
If you have ever walked down Hadfield Rd after a game, you will know how busy it gets with pedestrians and cars… well last year it was made worse with both sets of fans (some were families with young kids) having to step out and walk on the road because there wasn’t enough room on the pavement.
At least this time, thank to the original poster, I have prior warning and will plan my parking ahead of the game
I just noticed I said Leckwith Rd a couple of times… I meant Hadfield Rd.
Well that's a ball ache to get my train home
