Re: Bristol City sack Nigel Pearson
Don't know I'm afraid. Apparently Tinnion is, staying on as DOF. And Rowett is favourite gif the manager's job.Originally posted by Jordi Culé View PostFingers crossed he suggests changing their colours to Blue and White and renames them Bristol Grizzley.
Some supporters are just so ungrateful and lack long term vision.
Bristol Sport, I remember reading sbout this. Bristol Rugby Club play at Ashton Gate, what are their crowds like?

Re: Bristol City sack Nigel Pearson
This is another potential distraction from the football side of thingsOriginally posted by Robin Friday's Ghost View PostI think the disenchantment can be traced back to the birth of Bristol Sport. Since then there has been a growing feeling that he is losing interest in the football club in favour of the other branches. It could well be true. I knew Steve well as I worked for him for many years. He came to football as an adult, he was not a lifelong fan in that sense. They've got a bit of cheek bearing in mind the amount of money he has ploughed into the club though. I think he spent going on for Ł50 million on their ground alone. The Pearson affair has tipped them over the edge.
Subject to a legal challenge since that article.

Gary Rowett appears to be a pair of safe hands. Not someone to get the pulse going but he done OK st Millwall.Originally posted by Robin Friday's Ghost View PostDon't know I'm afraid. Apparently Tinnion is, staying on as DOF. And Rowett is favourite gif the manager's job.

I thought they might go for John Eustace. Whoever it is they need to present the new manager as an upgrade on Pearson to get the fans back on side.Originally posted by Robin Friday's Ghost View PostDon't know I'm afraid. Well the few fans I've heard from definitely don't see Rowett in that light.Originally posted by jon1959 View PostI thought they might go for John Eustace. Whoever it is they need to present the new manager as an upgrade on Pearson to get the fans back on side.

I wouldn't be surprised if the way we signed Siopis is prevented from happening in future. Then again nothing has been done about the way Watford operate.Originally posted by Nobody's Rep View PostIn my weaker moments I do wonder if we have "bent" some rules to recruit like we have and if we haven't then hopefully we will be reluctant to share any perceived success

That was the one I was thinking of particularly as he took a bit of a hit to join us apparently and I wonder why he did that unless he was or will be compensated for his "loss"Originally posted by PontBlue View PostI wouldn't be surprised if the way we signed Siopis is prevented from happening in future. Re: Bristol City sack Nigel Pearson
I think in the embargo position we're in that the league would be looking very closely at every deal to make sure it complies. It would be monumentally stupid to jeopardise our future, particularly for 1 player such as with Siopis. I'd rather think that the club OK'd it with the league before hand.Originally posted by Nobody's Rep View PostIn my weaker moments I do wonder if we have "bent" some rules to recruit like we have and if we haven't then hopefully we will be reluctant to share any perceived success
I'd also like to think he in particular came to follow a manager he knows and has worked with, and also there is still some kudos for foreign players to playing in the English league. I also think that generally wages may be relatively higher here.

Contractual buy out clauses aren't unusual, in fact they are quite common in some leagues, e.g. Spain.Originally posted by PontBlue View PostI wouldn't be surprised if the way we signed Siopis is prevented from happening in future. Then again nothing has been done about the way Watford operate.
Siopis clearly had one that he thought worthwhile exercising to join us.

They're not mandatory.Originally posted by Rjk View Postthey're mandatory in Spain
In the EU players have a right to terminate subject to certain restrictions even where they do not have a specific clause.
In Spain that right is extended further under their laws although where there is no specific clause the Labour Court will determine the buy out value.
