Thread: Better from Cardiff, but their limitations are still plain to see.

Better from Cardiff, but their limitations are still plain to see.

Comedy own goal and a goal of the season contender earn City a point.

I agree but some blame must lay at the manager's actions.
To a man, that I spoke to anyway, agreed with me why did he take Collwill off ?
When the numbers were put up I thought he was going defensively to hold on to the lead but he replaced Collwill and Etete with 2 wingers.
Collwill had started pulling the strings and for 20 mins he was the player we all want him to be then he gets hooked off.
    Crazy decision.

Didn't Colwill signal he wanted to come off? I assume it was illness or a niggle. Not necessarily Bulut's decision anyway if so.

He didn't look like he was expecting to come off when the board was put up

Fair enough. I couldn't actually make the game as I've been ill but a few posters said he'd been asking to come off. I didn't see it on tv but obviously you only see a bit of the game there.

I thought he was limping before going off

We were doing fine (and might have gone on to win) until he subbed Ralls, Colwill and Etete. Any incisive passing in the midfield went with Ralls, any spark of invention left the pitch with Colwill, and any focus we had up-front disappeared with Etete. The three players that needed to stay on the pitch were all withdrawn. I'm still struggling to make any sense of it.

He was limping and told the bench he wanted to come off

    No fault with bulut

He had to take colwill and ralls off as both said they were struggling

    It's not complicated

    I didn't see Collwill struggling.
I beginning to believe Bulut likes a bit of bullshit.
His honeymoon period is over for me.
As a fan that actually goes home and away I'm allowed to call him out.

I was watching very closely and I did not see that. He looked very disappointed to come off.

Well others saw him struggling , I wasn't close enough to see him look upset

If I was struggling and had to come off I wouldn't be happy

Let's be clear here shall we ?

Colwill has long standing fitness problems and the manager is damned either way

Let’s be clear here as well that raking off Colwill and Etete weakened us on Boxing Day. Fair enough with the latter though because Bulut has said he had a knock which required him to come off and the good news is that it looks like he’ll be fit to play some part against Leicester. However, I’ve still not seen anything from our manager to suggest Colwill was injured - indeed, this Wales Online piece says that it wasn’t the case and that it was a “misstep” by Bulut to take him off.

You're right. Bulut didn't mention Colwill. I've just checked.

Jason Perry said that Colwill looked very disappointed at being substituted and thought he was unlucky to come off.

It'll be interesting to see if Etete starts on Friday. If he does, will he last just an hour again? Should he be rested instead? Has whatever injury issue he has got the potential to get worse if he keeps playing, even for just an hour at a time? I'm just curious about this.

Bulut answered a question in the post match press conference about why Etete and Colwill were taken off and said the reason was injuries. He went on to give the impression he was acting in a precautionary was to prevent minor niggles becoming major trouble. He elaborated briefly on Etete - his knee. He didn't add any detail on what Colwill's problem was.

He has always appeared to be straight in his responses to journalists before, so I don't think this was a case of him inventing an excuse for a poor substitution decision.

I thought the same - until someone said we have a game on Friday night and a game on Monday - so resting players.
Up until then colwill was playing great. And should start Friday
