Also, there is a physiological influence, you play more conservatively against the good teams and expect to lose, more adventurous against the shit teams but remain confident as you expect to win, and are not sure what to expect mid-table. The fan behavior will probably replicate.

Yes, you'd expect teams to generally have a better record against the worst teams, but ours (I think at least) is one of the best in the division. On the opposite side of the coin, I would reckon most teams have a better home record against teams who were in the top half when they played them than ours, which is absolute shite.

I think you're right. We'll lose to Southampton and probably beat Rotherham. Middlesbrough is anyone's guess - on season long form we'll probably lose, but it's a dead rubber with nothing on it, so it could be any scoreline.
