The Tories doing an unbelievably poor job of running the country doesn't mean Starmer will do a good job. And it certainly doesn't mean he will make any radical changes. He's expelled Corbyn and welcomed a Tory. That tells you pretty much everything you need to know about his vision for Labour.

Wonder what the atmosphere will be like in Labour Party HQ this morning after Lisa Nancy’s disastrous appearance on Question Time last night? In typical Labour fashion, they are turning their triumph of last week into yesterday’s chip paper with Starmer’s triumphalism about a defecting very right wing Tory - restoring the whip for Dianne Abbott would help the situation a bit, but it’s no wonder there’s no enthusiasm among the electorate for Starmer and his party.
