Jimmy Blair. A unique occasion in the 1920s, an international match where both captains were playing at their home ground. Keenor for Wales, Blair for Scotland at Ninian Park. It was certainly the first time it happened, not sure if it’s happened since.

I enjoyed the beer we had before and after the game Jim but I thought the segregation of the cloth caps & tam o’ shanters in the ground was ridiculous seeing as we fought on the Somme together a few years before.

    Gerry Hitchens - England.
One of the best centre forwards to play for City

Re: Countries represented by City players

    Terry Harkin - Northern Ireland

A forward from the mid-60's who I remember as being not very good. However I checked his stats and he scored 1 in 2 for us and loads elsewhere else.

Here's the ones so far that I can see have had full caps (other than France which was Olympics and I can't be bothered to go back and take it out now)

Difficult to make out a lot of the small island nations too.

    Quite impressive.

When I was a lad my old dad said to me that the nearest thing we had ever had to an England International was Charlie Rutter who had one cap for England B. I’m not entirely sure what England B was but one cap he got.

Remember him well, never seemed to fit in with us.

Think he partnered George Andrews up front, both of them having a 1 in 2 goal ratio. Although I was only 11 at the time I remember thinking that Terry Harkin was just not a good footballer.

George Andrews came from Lower Gornal Athletic in the same deal that brought Gary Bell to us from the same club. George looked like a teddy boy.

Sideburns, black slicked hair and a right hard looking so and so. A very good, combative centre forward who knew where the goal was. Also struck up a decent partnership with George Johnston.

Our strike partnership in our march to the League Cup semi final in 1965, unfortunately ending in a 5-1 home defeat and a 5-2 away defeat to West Ham who got beat by West Brom in the final.

I remember the 5-1 home defeat. Well and truly outclassed. I remember being very impressed with Johnny Sissons who no one could get anywhere near. I think Geoff Hurst got a couple that night.
