Byrom just looks absolutely scrambled to me, he needs to be removed from the firing line. Last 2 innings have been characterised by a few sheepish prods , followed by a lunatic shot because he seemingly can't face being 0 off 5. I liked what I saw of Smale last year, places 0 value on his wicket and just goes at it from ball 1 with a clear mind. Only a very small sample but he actually reminded me a bit of will smeed. If we're going to take advantage of our long batting lineup I think our openers need to bat like that. Carlson has done it brilliantly so far up top, just need someone else there with him.
Other option would be to stick Marnus up top and play another bowler or allrounder. Billy Root has always done alright for us in T20 aswell

Unbelievable by the bowlers to give us a chance. Sorry for the 't' word, but another toxic performance from Northeast loses us that game. 46 off 42, followed up with a simple drop with 7 needed off 2 that would have ensured we couldn't lose the game .
Those 2 easy chances shelled by Carlson and Mcillroy really cost us aswell.

I cant believe what Ive just seen. Ive seen us lose 2 home games in T20 with at least 9 dropped catches. We made no use of the shoulder bouncer. Gloucester bowled one every over.
Somehow we lost the Essex game and now we have managed to toss another victory away. vdG bowls 4 for 8, gets them 45-5 and we manage to lose. It is pathetic.

We could quite conceivably be sitting top of the table. Been in strong positions in every game, real winning positions in most games. Yet we've conspired to throw it away constantly. Ridiculous number of dropped catches, big 8 and 9th wicket partnerships against us, just unbelievable.
We should have been defending at least another 20 runs, but even with what we were defending we had done enough to win the game. To happen in 1 game fair enough. But we've now blown out and out winning chances against Glos and Essex, to go with the really strong positions that we blew against Surrey and Somerset.
Top 4 starting to pull away a bit now aswell, so looking like end of sports for qualifying
