It would have been great if it had been given but it was never a penalty

No real threat there tonight in a game they had to win

Thought him walking off was a bit odd

Maybe , he did get us to qualify with very very limited footballers on the whole .
The last 15 minutes we gave it a go , the whole game I was shouting at the TV when we passed back wards time and time again .
I get hold it tight and wait for the break away . Its crap to watch . I am not bothered that we are out , simply not good enough.

Hmmm, a problem for the media. Which set of fans can they openly patronise and throw ridiculous cliches about now that the Scots are on their way home? The Irish aren't there to sing and dance for our pleasure and we're not there which means Talksport etc can't get all bleary eyed over our Anthem and the passion it invokes. Oh dear.

It was like watching Cardiff at their negative worst last season. Too many backwards passes and no credible forward options.

Adams should have been hooked at half time.

Can see the initial disappointment turning to anger soon enough. Clarke on borrowed time now?

Just cant understand why he left Shankland on the bench when you needed goals.
Adams wasnt scoring in a month of Sundays.
Clarke has surely got to answer for that.
I feel for you mate. Youve had a lifetime of disappointment watching your country, and another huge dollop following the City.
How much misery can one man take 😁

They are rubbish, did well to get there with that squad I suppose, limited Manager, limited players, easy to please crowd, just let us go anywhere outside of Scotland so we can get pissed up for a week solid.

If anything, as you say, it's a free kick to Hungary. Armstrong almost clear through on goal and looks for the pelanty. i can only assume the BBC pundits are saying it was one just to keep as many Scottish viewers on board for the rest of the borefest..

Re: EUROS thread. Sunday 23rd June 2024.

Damning stats for Scotland taken from the BBC website;-

Scotland had just 17 shots at Euro 2024 in total since the group stage was introduced in 1980, that is the joint fewest by any nation in a group stage, along with Northern Ireland at Euro 2016.

There have only been two instances at these finals of a team failing to have a shot in the first half of a match and both have been Scotland - against Germany and Hungary."

My knowledge of modern day Scottish football isn't great, but it seems to me that they were over achieving until about fifteen months ago and now they're under achieving. You look at the strongest side Scotland can put out today and the strongest team we could play and, for me, they're better than us - yes. we've been better than them for much of the past dozen years or so, but Scotland have a nucleus of good Premier League players whereas we have Brennan Johnson and Ben Davies (who I reckon Spurs will sell or loan out in the summer) and a lot of Premier League reserves or Championship first teamers.

Historically, Scotland have been better than Wales most of the time and I don't see how any Welsh person can argue that we're more of a football nation than them, yet, somehow, we've only failed to get out of the group stage in one of the four major tournaments we've reached and reached a Quarter Final and a Semi Final (plus a European Championship Quarter Final in 1976). By contrast, Scotland have made it to the major tournament final competitions twelve times (concrete evidence of them being better than us historically) and never made it out of the group stages.

No doubt, Scotland can point to bad luck denying them some times (the World Cups of 74 and 82 spring to mind for me), but it's incredible that they have such a wretched record because they're better than that. I didn't realise that they played in as many as twelve major tournament finals, that's an awful lot and it makes me think that the weight of history had a bit to do with what was really a bit of a no show last night against opponents who were decent, but nothing special at this level.

Unfortunately, 5cotland played the last 10 minutes, how they should have played the previous 80

Agree that you cannot argue with the history. 12 qualifications speaks for itself. Disagree with underachievers now - they are just so incredibly limited, for me playing at their level. Simply a complete lack of quality. Summed up by Callum mcgregor. Watched him for best part of 3 games. Offered precisely nothing. Genuinely would pick siopassback ahead of him. And I’m not a big fan!!!

Clarke's time at the "Erol Bulut academy of attacking football" was well spent then.

Croatia v Italy is the value game tonight. Croatia will go second if they beat Italy and then the Italians would be hoping for a best third place. If Italy lose and Albania miraculously beat Spain (who are already group winners) Italy would be eliminated.

For Italy a point sees them through in second place.

The Scots fans didn't exactly shy away from that coverage did they. If you go to games in processions flanked by bagpipes what do you expect .

Saying that, I thought the coverage of them was actually really positive. Certainly more positive than grumpy git like me would have been about them

It's an odd incident. Armstrong seems to miss the ball, allowing the defender to catch up, then sticks his arm and leg out then grabs the defender's shirt (although that might have been after the contact). There's definitely contact by the defender, but I think the ref probably thought he was just looking for a penalty or it was 50-50.
Very surprised they didn't use VAR though.
