Thread: Sunak to stand down as Tory leader.

  1. #1

Sunak to stand down as Tory leader.

The new leader is likely to be a right winger surely unless someone like Jeremy Hunt fancies yet another go at trying to get the job.

Quite a dignified speech I thought.

Good bloke Sunak, not a leader but a good bloke and he had made improvements in his short spell in charge economically at least anyway.

Sunak is a geeky sort , a bit like starmer

But without having the nutters on his back he's deffo a moderate bloke

Would make a good liberal I think

It's going to be braverman who will kiss farages arse

So starmer has to bring in pr and form a left of centre alliance or do it using our present system , which is a bit dodgy

Braverman has annoyed quite a few in the party and I’d say Badenoch’s a more likely new leader - I wonder if Sunak may stay on long enough to get someone like Mordaunt back in Parliament as some body with a big majority is “encouraged” to stand down.

If Braverman doesn’t get the leadership, I wouldn’t put it past her defecting to Reform - it’s been a few years since Liz Truss changed parties, so she may go with her.

If the moderates and left of centre can stick together the right can be kept out

If they are complacent and keep arguing then the devil's will be waiting

I’ve little time for Starmer, but he strikes me a strong leader if you go by his treatment of the likes of Jeremy Corbyn and the way he’s imposed his will on his party - he’s not the sort of “strongman” leader in the mould of Trump, Johnson, Putin etc, but he’s made his party electable and that looked a long way off in December 2019.
