    Points before the international break

    Burnley a
    Swansea a
    Boro h

I can't see us getting anything given our performance yesterday, which was just a continuation of last season's poor home form.
    Hope I'm wrong.

The South Wales Derby is due a draw. Only one draw in the last 16 meetings and you have to go as far back as April 2009 to find the last score draw.

    Swansea 1 Cardiff 1

Can't take too much out of match stats, but it looks like although they had possession they didn't try much at all , Boro with 18 shots, 4 on target, and Swansea 5 and nil, but early days and they are home to Preston before the derby and may have some confidence by then.

I'd take the one all, it will be a pressure game for sure.

Well be fine in the away games. We won't lose either. Not confident about Middlesborough at home though.

I'll go win at Burnley, draw at swansea and lose v boro.

Don't see your confidence about Burnley. Just down from the Prem, Sheff Utd swatted Preston aside easily on Friday.
We really have to up our game to stand a chance.

I had a look today and the last time we lost the opening three games was 1984/85.

Now obviously we are a long way from that. Could easily have four points but with two tough away games coming it has to be a possibility

Our away form last season was more than decent and has been for the last few seasons. Over the last 4 seasons we've won 34 games away to only 31 at home and only scored 3 goals fewer across those 4 seasons away than at the CCS. There is no doubt that our away form was a big factor in keeping us up in 2022/23 and getting us to cling on to a top half finish last season.

From the Huddersfield game last season, we won 8 and lost 8 of our last 17 away league games, which was no mean feat. That 4-0 thrashing, which could have been significantly worse for Huddersfield, came after a mini-blip which had followed a very good start. We followed that rout with a 2-0 win over Bristol City - the last time we won a game by more than one goal. All without Rambo and O'Dowda as well. I doubt anyone would have predicted that at the time.

Over those last 17 away games, no side in the Championship won more games on the road than us. That's quite an achievement, which makes our home form over the same period all the more unfathomable.

4 of last season's away wins were 1-0 - our record at winning games after scoring first away from home was ok. We managed to win 2-1 after going a goal down on 4 occasions as well, usually very late on. As with the last few months of the season, the second goal tended to be more pivotal than the first, and if we conceded to go 2 goals behind, that was curtains. Our last 8 away defeats saw a cumulative goal difference of -19 with only 5 goals scored. Conceding at an average of 3 goals a game when we lost over a period of 6 months wasn't healthy.

I doubt we'll be unbeaten in both of our away games simply because we don't draw games - we either win or lose them. TLG makes a point about it being a long time since we had a scoring draw in the South Wales derby. It's been over a year since we had a scoring draw away from home (Leeds on the opening day last season). By last season's form, I'm expecting 1 win and 1 defeat from Burnley and Swansea. Too many burned fingers on derby day suggests we'll win at Burnley.......
