I wonder if there is some kind of rivalary between the two countries? They are 600km apart but because of their status could it be a clash of the little guys a bit like Newport vs FGR

    It's absolute garbage.

In this day and age, international football should be kept to an absolute minimum. There is way too much of it.

International football didn't need a new European competition. It already had one.

each to their own, I think it's great -certainly wouldn't want to go back to pointless friendlies during the international breaks - and you'll still need the international breaks as you cant expect a national side to just meet for the summer tournaments without playing other games.
It also gives the smaller teams something realistic to play for - I doubt anyone in San Marino will be complaining about it

But miles better than the meaningless friendlies they replaced and can help with qualification to tournaments proper. They're here to stay methinks.

I saw a lengthy report about that on Sky Sports. Apparently, the day after the game you'd never have known it took place. Virtually nobody in San Marino cared apart from the team.

You say: "certainly wouldn't want to go back to pointless friendlies during the international breaks" and I agree. There is no need for international breaks at all unless teams are playing in proper competitions during them. International sides should also be limited to three friendlies a season. Maximum (I'd opt for two).

You say: "you cant expect a national side to just meet for the summer tournaments without playing other games." Why not? If it was the same for everyone, then no problem.

Like every other aspect of football these days, international football is at saturation point. It's just ridiculous. Never used to be like this and there's no need for it to be like this now either. Restructure the existing competitions by all means, but don't invent stupid new ones for the sake of it.

Serious question, what's your thoughts on the revamped Champions League, Europa Cup and Conference?

I'm assuming similar to the Nations League?

Nations League has been a huge success, just because you don’t like international football you can’t be silly enough to come to the conclusion that it hasn’t been a great success

I don't watch any of them these days. Haven't got the channels they're on and not interested enough to go to the pub to watch any of the games. I've watched a couple of finals in recent years years and that's about it.
