My Villa mate always chanted "Gary Shaw will always score" basic but apparently true.

Aston Villa striker Gary Shaw, a member of their European Cup winning side of 1982 has died at the of 63 of injuries sustained following a fall.
One of those footballers I always think of as being permanently young, he was an unlucky player who was a fine, instinctive striker who looked destined for the top until he sustained the injury which meant that his early potential was never fulfilled.
Saw him playing for Walsall down here about seven years after he was winning the game’s top honours - surprised he never won a full cap for England, he was good enough to.
RIP

Just shows how careful you have to be Bob.
I fell the other week and had nothing more than a cut head a forehead and right eye covered in bruises on and a bruised hand and knees.Plus my injured pride
Could have been so much worse, as sadly it was for Gary Shaw.
Incidentally I would advise anyone who bangs their head to get it checked at A and E. The scan is completely painless and quick (though I still had to wait 6 or 7;hours to get seen by a doctor and discharged).
RIP Gary.
My first sticker album was football 82.
Cracking villa side and I can recall more of those players than today.
Shaw, withe, Rimmer, Morley, spink, Mortimer . I believe Ron Saunders was manager as well.
RIP.
Great player.
Had it all in a great Villa side.
