Good lads. The U21s are looking great.
Here's Swansea's take on the match https://www.swanseacity.com/news/rep...ff-city-u21s-1
Don't like singling out individuals, but the drop in standards when Meite and Kanga come on in first team games is noticeable. Cian Ashford. who started last night's game showed at the back end of last season that he has more to offer the first team than the two senior players mentioned above and it's reaching the stage now where yiu have to ask what more does Reindorf have to do to get into the squad?
For three quarters of my City supporting life, age was no barrier to first team selection - I've seen a host of teenagers slected for league debuts in my time and many of them did fine, but, for some reason, it's tended to be seen as too much of a risk these days in matches where the points are deemed to be important. The mystery this time though is that the junior players being kept out have shown more this season than the senior players who are being selected in front of them.
Good win last night - famous last words, but, unlike with most of our under 21/23 teams down the years, this lot are good at defending which is very exciting when you consider that the two fiull backs are, I think, still young enough to be playing for the Academy team. Well done to cantrebacks Cook and Davies as well - especially the latter who is coping with what is a.new position for him so well.
The draw for the Semi Final of the Nathaniiel MG Cup has been made and City will travel to Aberystwyth some time in the last week in November.
Highlights of last night’s match now on the club website - lovely ball by Mafico to set up the goal. Based on the video, we were worth more than a one goal win.

Great pass from Mafico, yes.
The only thing I can think with Kanga is that we must be paying him a fair wedge, and the club are keen to get something in return for it (whilst, you would assume, working to send him back in January). Reindorf still looks raw to me, but I think he'll get his chance if he keeps performing.
Ashford is more of a concern for me. He looked very sharp in pre-season, but Riza alluded to there being an issue a month or so back, and Matty Jones seemed to be questioning his attitude at one of the recent U21 camps. Which would suggest ability is not what's holding him back at the moment.
City under 18 team for todays game with Brentford.

Half time, City1-0 up. Theyre a bit lucky to be ahead considering that the wurzels, who are much the taller side, were the better team for the first thirty minutes. Tom Davies did well while City had a lot of defending to do, but they gradually began to improve and, after playing as poorly as Ive seen them this season, they began to look more like their usual selves in the final quarter of an hour of the half. Cody Twose forced a good save out of the Bristol keeper before we took the lead just before the break with a really good goal- Dakari Maficos fine ball from deep set Luey Giles free down the left and, as he usually does, Giles produced a quality cross which was powerfully headed in from ten yards by Etete.
1-1, very sloppy defending from a long throw after City had started the second half well.
Etete taken off at half time.
Trey George restores the lead a couple of minutes later - very good finish after a defensive cock up.
