    Dorking Wanderers statement

    Thoughts

The @FA ask us to wear things, sit, stand, kneel but MIA with regards the atrocities that have emerged regarding the 3 Southport victims and their families. So we will be having a minutes silence for those girls at our Home game this Tuesday v @AveleyFC and it would be good to see others doing the same. PLS RT - MW

    Re: Dorking Wanderers statement

Do the FA tend to dictate when teams hold a minute’s silence?

I would’ve imagined after the passing of ex players, local celebrities, fans, attacks/disasters, etc it would be at the club’s discretion what acknowledgment they’d like to proceed with.

Do the FA give clubs a guideline to follow for honouring the Hillsborough victims, Armistice Day, Aberfan, Manchester/London bombings, etc?

    Re: Dorking Wanderers statement

A brief googling shows Liverpool, Southport FC, Preston and Everton all held minute silences at games as well as several councils and institutions across Merseyside.

It seems like quite an antagonistic post for no real reason from the Dorking social media admin.

Had the attacks not happened during the summer break I imagine an organised and collective minute silence would’ve been observed by the football league.
