Imagine weapons that can make their own decisions in mid air.
The Asda store in Weston-super-Mare uses facial recognition software regarding anyone who enters the store!

LIke most scientific discoveries, these can be used for good or evil e.g. nuclear energy to generate electricity or fuel for nuclear bombs, virus research to cure diseases or create biological weapons. Hence I expect AI to be no different. I suppose the more scary thing about AI is that the former examples are as a result of human decisions whereas AI decisions might be made by machines without any human interaction.
Never mind AI. When quantum computing becomes widespread (in conjunction with AI of course), that’s when things will get really scary.
Besides, we probably won’t be here in 5 years time thanks to the political climate around the world.
I was listening to a podcast earlier this week and the host reported that he read a recent report and which i forget which paper it was in from that a Micro biologist with an alphabet after his name who had completed a piece of work which had taken him 10 years to put together, he fed the info in AI and it came up with the answer in 2 days and also gave him another 4 solutions as to whatever he was doing. As part of my work I put technical procedures and instructions together and will admit to using AI quite frequently now. its a massive help and time saver.

#of course one of the main burning questions about AI is once AI can do everyone's jobs - what will we all do?
We can't allow the big tech companies to take all the money at the expense of everyone's livelihoods

I'm fortunate being towards the end of my working career, but have children and grand children i do have concern for them.
We should all be taking an interest in their subject choices, many jobs will still be needed, but civil servants and standard admin-type jobs will be a thing of the past quite quickly.
