Thread: England women's cricket team.

    England women's cricket team.

This isn't some sort of montage of the catches rthey've dropped during their disastrous tour of Australia, these are the catches they've dropped today (seven of them!). I remember reading a few years back when they got full time professional status before any other country how this would lead to a real increase in standards, as it should have done, but, instead, all that's happened is that it's become a jolly for the same old, same old failing favourites, many of whom are serial bottlers.

People who know morre about the subject than me often say that these are the best woman crticketers available to England, but, if that is really true, how many hundreds of thousands of pounds, if not millions, have been completely wasted since the game went professional?

Not seen much women's cricket before, but there was some nice batting on display on that video - the fielding was bad though - not just the dropped catches, but the attempts to stop boundaries, they just seemed so slow in comparison to the men's game.

It's been a pathetic series for England.
Other than the game they lost in the last over by DL, they haven't really got close.

Do all the women on the team have Foo foos or?

By no means an expert on women's cricket but I was interested to see Alex Hartley's very honest take on the fitness, etc. of the current squad. As a recently retired player, I think her opinions carry some weight.

Very poor in the field today. Criticism, pressure and demoralisation playing their part no doubt. And as bluesp says, the fitness issue needs to be looked at too.

As does several of the squad apparently.

Shocking performances through the series. And Hartley’s comments are spot on, hence the very defensive responses to her.

Beaten by an innings and plenty in the test match, they were doing quite well in their second innings until the spinners came on and then they collapsed in a heap. Seven games against Australia in three formats and England only really competed in one of them - shameful.

Shameful I agree. Imagine the reaction if that was the men - or rather witness the reaction when it has been the men. But the most shameful bit for me - away from the appalling performances - is the arrogant and immature reaction to Alex Hartley's comments by coach and players. She is absolutely spot on. The proof and evidence is in front of all of us with the shocking ground fielding and dropped catches - every game, every innings.

Half the England team will probably retire now and all be given jobs on TMS and Sky giving their expert analysis on men’s cricket.

The men aren't doing much better.

Just seen the result, the England men’s team don’t do bad games, they just go straight to atrocious ones.
