    Your opinion doesn't surprise me Elwood.

    However the word "holocaust" was taken from the Greek meaning "burnt offering". It was later adapted to symbolise "genocide".

    The genocide in Palestine cannot claim to be "The Holocaust" because that specific term has been exclusively reserved for a specific Jewish genocide. However, you agree that there has been genocide in Palestine so I can't understand why these atrocities should not be regarded as perpetrating A holocaust, without the definite article

    I can only think there are important political, religious and cultural reasons why someone would reject the description in this instance.
