Issak Davies is one of the subs as is Miete then a pick and mix from the academy depending on positions.

    It would be phenomenal

Like we said a point would be more than Sunderland shef united or Millwall took from hull when hull visited.

Hull are flying away from home. Even at full strength a point would be great but with this squad a point would be fantastic.

They hadn't won any of the previous three before yesterday.

Yesh maybe us being crap could work in our favour.

They've played Leeds Sunderland and Sheffield United in 2025 and have got 7 points from them. We have zero points v the top 4 all season.

Plus their win at 10th placed milwall a couple of weeks ago.

But yes can see they struggle v teams around them and must be close to the bottom for a reason.

It's a shame we can't defend, I think both sides would be very happy to shake hands on a 0-0 and edge closer away from the bottom 3. We're going to have to score, though. I'd gamble on Robinson, the cup game is a free hit, Burnley haven't conceded in 12, we've kept 1 clean sheet in 20 so were, so we've got 10 days until the next game that we can get anything from.

Are there any free agents we could bring in to help sort out the defence.

Also we need a coach to organise the defence. Apparently it's Ramasut's role so I'd get rid of him as he's the common factor regarding our dreadful defence these last few years.

Why is ramasut in a job? We've had so many changes yet he's still here? How?

I refer you to Richard Shaw, who some were crediting with out last upturn in results, whenever that was, i can't remember. Not seen anything about him since......

Just to add, i am neither crediting Shaw with our upturn (at the time) or blaming him for our downturn (most weeks) i don't think it works like that.

Our best back 4 is a winger, a left back, a centre back and a centre mid. I'm not sure what any coach could do with that? The players we've got to pick from in defence (even with everyone fit) just aren't up to the task.

I'm not absolving Ramusat or Riza of responsibility, and they're not without blame but you can't polish a turd

Just seen a poll doing the rounds on Twitter asking if we have a good squad/good manager, with over 70% saying we have a good squad! What the f*ck have they been watching!?!

A few weeks back Riza gave a very informative press conference where he detailed back room staff roles and responsibilities. I was surprised that neither Purse or Shaw had responsibility for defence

Why not? I always think one familiar face in the background consistently is always good, particularly when we change manger so often. Some stability is good…plus he brings a bit of celebrity with him, decent guy too

People have deluded themselves into thinking players like Willock are underperforming and are actually good because they score a good goal once a season.

Willock proved he can do well and score goals at this level while at QPR. Problem is he also had periods where he was ineffective and there were allegedly some attitude problems. Bulut and Riza haven't managed to get much out him so far, but his past record indicates that there's a decent player in there somewhere.

Cifuentes is a good manager at this level, and he got 4 goals and 4 assists out of Willock last season. I don't think Willock fits into any system we've used, he's not quick enough to be a winger and doesn't work hard enough to be central. This is also my issue with "play Robinson as a 10", you're basically playing 2 strikers as midfielders can literally walk past them. Still, we've got 2 years left for Willock to change my mind, as nobody is going to buy him!

Looking at who's about the only realistic ones would be.....

Nathan Ferguson - still only 23 - can play anywhere across the back. Started at West Brom then went to Palace 4 years ago for Ł4m where it didn't work out. Hasn't played since July though.

    or

Ayo Obileye who's a london born 30yo journeyman centre back. Last played in Jan out in China. Youth career with Chelsea and Sheff Wed. Most of his football was played in Scotland where he spent 3 seasons from 2021 in the Prem for Livingston

Nathan Ferguson has been almost permanently injured since he joined Palace. He played 1 game in 4 seasons.

That is a bit odd, seeing as we are still gifting goals, pass some responsibility on to them both now!

Maybe neither are all that good as a defensive coach.

When I think back to the Dave Jones era, I think of some good attacking football and some great goals. I can't say I associate anything defensively with him as a manager, yet he played his career as a centre back.

I think he knew what a centre half and a defender was though.

Off the top of my head he signed Darren purse Roger Johnson Glenn loovens mark hudson gabor gyepes kevin mcnaughton- all turned out to do OK for the club. None cost much money and several made the club a lot of money. I reckon all those players cost less than what we spent last summer on defenders? Not a bad return?

Also gave debuts to gunter and Matthews who both went on to do ok. And who could forget that run Darcy Blake had in the team next to Anthony Gerrard! Maybe those 2 were just supremely talented or maybe there was some coaching going on?
