I came across this interesting quote:

A guy himself records his deeds: well we can't really trust him he's obviously biased".
It's in response to a question about Caesar's Gallic Wars but equally applicable to the Bible I would say. Substitute the apostle Paul for the guy in the third example and Jesus for one and two.
