This line gets trotted out every 5 minutes on this board, but what exactly is that based on?
In Mick McCarthy's last season, he left us 21st in the league, a club record 8 defeats in a row, in which we scored 1 goal. That's even worse than Bulut. Not to mention the whole '5 centre backs at home' debacle.
Under Sabri Lamouchi, the only reason we stayed up was because of Reading's point deduction.
They were both experienced Championship managers.
It's not about how many games someone has managed, it's about their ability to change the culture of mediocrity that has enveloped the club for a good three years now, from top to bottom.
In that regard, I don't think Riza is doing any better or any worse with this team than someone who's managed 500 games would.
Have to say not only were Plymouth one of the worst teams I've seen, they were also one of the stupidest. It looked as if Alnwick had snapped his hamstring with 10 minutes left, not once did they drop a cross on top of him or close down our defenders when he rolled it out (as he couldn't kick!)
Indeed. However, you could probably do so without writing childish stuff like: "there is a magic manager out there who would manage the players we have disposed of over the years and we would be top of the Premier League..."
But hey, sanctimony can take many forms.

I'm not saying we would be much better off but I reckon an experienced decent managerial set up would have this squad safe.
As it is it's going to be really tight and if one of the bottom 3 goes on a run we are probably fecked. Too many winning positions thrown away , poor starts in games. Strange subs and selections.
I'm sure Bulut would have relegated us. Riza and the current set up may well do. I think Rowett as an example would have enough to get us reasonably away from a scrap.
Facing a relegation battle I think its only our board who would leave a relegation battle to our novice set up.
Top half team last season mind, people try to change history, but we got a good start and finished top half. The football was a lot harder to watch mind.
I think an experienced Manager like Rowett or Mowbray, would have us safe by now, and another six points more at the very least, Oxford squad is much weaker than ours.
Over a season, 12th that's where they finished, top half with a weaker squad. He was crap too, imagine what a top Manager could do.
I'd love a top-half finish this season, but it's never going to happen, we had tough fixtures right at the start, with a terrible run and loss of confidence, and never got far away from the relegation zone.
I didn't want Bulut sacked at the end of the season because I suspected they'd appoint a trainee YTS Manager again and I was right.
We aren't stronger in midfield and attack though, are we? We've lost Grant and Bowler had more goals and assists than any other winger we have this season. We signed Salech in Jan, so for 5 months, we were weaker going forwards as well
What youngsters got blooded last season? Ashford with a handful of games?
