The speech got a 69% national approval rating if CNN are to be believed.
I didn't watch it, and it did seem to be Trump on his best behaviour when he speaks well and passionately, but still I am surprised at that, as people are often so entrenched that nearly every opinion poll seems to be more or less 50/50!
It's true though.
An anti Trump podcast I watched said that the poll was limited to people who had watched the whole speech and speculated that the large majority of those interviewed for the poll would be supporters of his because people who didn’t vote for him wouldn’t have bothered watching it.. Now, the phrase “he would say that wouldn’t he” springs to mind, but I reckon there’s probably a lot of truth to it.

Most of the student protests against genocide in Gaza have been broken up by the police for minor offences like blocking a side walk.
However, you ight inadvertently have got this right. Both main US parties and many college/university administrations (encouraged by lobbyists and funders) decided 15 months ago that any demonstration against the Israeli bloodbath in Gaza (and the West Bank) is by definition anti Semitic and a display of support for Hamas. It isn't, but this is no time for truth to get in the way of low politics.

Just a reminder, the slaughter in Gaza, the war in Ukraine and the botched exit from Afghanistan that saw the return of the Taliban all happened under the last guy.

He is an authoritarian with thin skin who is using his power (and control of both houses of Congress, a politically compliant Supreme Court and a gagged/excluded mainstream media) to silence opposition and dissent. Like his mate Benjamin he has no interest in laws or ethics or norms of behaviour - just what he can make happen to benefit himself, his family, his golf buddies and the funders and lobbyists who helped him to a second term.

This refers to pro Hamas incidents in universities. A small minority of them no doubt but you probably ignored them. But that almost certainly is what is being referred to here. There was nothing "inadvertent" about it.

Jumpy? Yes, the world is uncertain, but the last decade or two have been pretty damned shit so I am no more jumpy than what has happened under the last US president!
