Oh rose tinted spectacles is most definitely a thing! We are all guilty of that.

I think the frustration is that one problem is solved and another created and lessons not learnt, lack of foresight to see new problems emerging etc

I'm on an Adam Curtis binge at the moment. He's a very insightful fella and always seems to see the future before it arrives. The thing about the above video is that everybody knew about it, but they didn't care as they didn't have to live there. You could say the same thing today about parliament, they don't care because the policies don't affect them.

Tolerance has to be mutual. If one group is intent on subjugation, enforced by murder and is xenophobic to the extreme of calling everyone who doesn't follow them the derogatory term infidels deems them unworthy and should enslaved or killed then that is unacceptable.

It's a double edged sword and always has been, but it's not the fault of the technology itself.

    Ayn Rand?

Try this: It is 7 years old, and it is from Jonathan Friedland, but despite those two problems it is a reasonable introduction to one of the 20th centuries most influential right wing propagandists. And a must for all Trump fans. Enjoy!

Yep, never heard of her. I'm not sure your stereotype of all Trump fans fit!
