    Watching Wrexham..

    What a lovely atmosphere.
    I'd forgotten what one was.

Crazy what a fairytale story, 2 mens dreams and an absolute shit load of money can do for the scrappy underdog team.

They're at the so-called "business end" of a promotion-chasing season playing against a close rival. I would expect a better atmosphere than that at the CCS.

They assembled a squad of League One and Two players in the National League. Their wage bill being higher than the other 23 teams combined, and higher than the majority of the league above.

Birmingham are an anomaly spending 30m.

Wrexham are the 3rd highest spending team in League One spending 5m. Last seasons highest spending team was Peterborough with 2.5m. The year before it was Ispwich, also spending 2.5m.

Theyre as much a fairytale story as Man City or PSG. The difference is theyve got a savvy PR team and their owners dont chop people up with hacksaws or stone gay people to death (I assume).

It's one thing spending money. It's another doing it well.

Funny, I’m never overly impressed when I watch Wrexham, but life is so much easier when you can rely on your defence to keep a clean sheet in something like every third game.

Plenty of clean sheets being kept in League Two today - five 0-0 draws and three games finish 1-0, football is a more defensive game this season than it has been for a few years.

I tend to agree. If they go up this year they'll have FFP rules to adhere to and from what I've seen of them this season they're a little bit 'rustic', perhaps not surprising considering where they were 3 years ago..

All power to Wrexham and their fans.
The bitterness from fans of other clubs when another team get big financial clout is both laughable and pathetic.
If some mega rich Middle East oil baron ploughed millions into us, most folk on here would be creaming themselves.

I watched Notts Co v Crewe earlier. 0-0. The standard was pretty good. The game was entertaining.

So glad they've been inspired by us.

As Eric has said, theres having plenty of dough, but using it wisely is an art on its own.

The best time following ccfc was the rise up from league 1 2002/2003…..

Agreed. They seem to know what they are doing and have spent their money well……unlike us!

The real challenge only starts in the championship, then we will see what they are all about…..

Agreed. I had far more enjoyment watching us do well in League 1 than I do currently watching us struggle in the Championship

    Re: Watching Wrexham..

Its always going to be more enjoyable winning and getting promotions, we did like Wrexham with even more spending. It started at league 2. Ive seen most grounds because of it, amazing years that many probably wont get.

    Re: Watching Wrexham..

I hope they go up, hopefully without us passing them the other way

If we were in their shoes wed be over the moon.

Jealousy isnt a good look. Their real fans have had more than their fair share of shit times.

I agree theyll find it harder for the next step, ie from the championship, but I hope they get up.

When they were in the National League, plenty of people suggested the real challenge would only start when they were in League Two. When they were doing well in League Two, plenty of people suggested the real challenge would only start when they were in League One.

They seem to be reasonably good at coping with real challenges.
