Thread: Uncle Vinnie going for the double with Kortrijk?

Uncle Vinnie going for the double with Kortrijk?

Not only are we in trouble at the wrong end of the Championship, his Belgian side are 6 points adrift in the Belgian league relegation stage with 5 games to go. There, the bottom 4 play each other home and away, continuing with the points won during the normal season.

Could Vinnie do the double, be the owner of two sides that get relegated in the same season? Fair play, he's giving it a go. It's like the opposite of the Midas touch.

Do multi millionaires/billionaires suffer from the same self doubts as us ordinary people? Surely someone who is as proven in business as Vincent Tan must have the self awareness to realise that he has not made a success of this football lark? Would a double relegation persuade Tan to step aside or, as I suspect, make him more determined to prove his critics wrong? Maybe Tan thinks he just provides the money and lets others get on with the job, but experience shows us that’s not true is it?

I don't want to get relegated but if it happens maybe the penny will drop whereby he either exits stage left or he realises the circus he is running needs experienced ring masters. I E not tan and Choo.

Or the worry is that he then wants to prove doubters wrong, blame everyone else and does more decision making on his own.

The biggest conundrum is why he is involved with football at our level and that of Kortrijk. It was understandable that he basked in the glory of the Premier League, a global brand, but since those days are clearly behind us, why does he persevere with us and even buy into a run-of-the-mill Belgian team?
It can't be because he's a football fan (one who never attends games), surely.

I don't think he'll leave us until the Sala case is resolved - to HIS satisfaction.
If it goes against us. I suspect he'll drag it out with pointless appeals.

At some point he will sell but i'm not sure a relegation will help that along. His investment will only be smaller, club worth less and any offers received considerably smaller.

He's almost sold Kortrijk a couple of times but the sales fell through.

Wonder if he's had offers for us that he'll regret not accepting.

I didn't realise until recently that he's still a major shareholder in FK Sarajevo. Seems to take more of a backseat with them though.

I bet Vinnie hires the best there is to run his businesses for him, so why doesn't he do it when it comes to football?

I think he values trust far more than business acumen.

that might not be entirely surprising given what happened with Mackay and allegedly Warnock
