Yeah not to mention likes of portsmouth who have pulled clear because of their home atmospheres.

Its not blaming the fans, its because of the club, but the other teams seem to have atmospheres and home fans and backing of the team we just dont have. Even with the home games coming up and how big they are can you see it being anything other than silent and disgruntled in our ground?

Everton are an extreme but remember the effort their fans made to keep them up? Following the bus.and the noise and colour etc....... we are so so so far away from anything like that. Apathy reigns.

Maybe because there's so little faith in the team holding on to a lead? Glen Williams of Wales Online was interviewed on a City podcast last week in which he said that while the press box was full of people saying stuff like "best Cardiff have played all season" at half time in the Sheffield Wednesday game, he was saying it'd finish 1-1. I know exactly what he meant, because, about forty minutes in, I thought to myself that we hadn't cashed in on our domination enough and Wednesday couldn't be as bad in the second half.

If the crowd reaction to that goal v Wednesday was stifled it was probably the shock of a first half goal or even taking the lead. Yes, also the lack of belief - after the Luton debacle - that we would hold on for another hour or so. It wasn’t of course like the pandemonium experienced in last minute winners.

Middlesbrough and Bristol city. Between those is 59 and 75!!

Whilst I agree with your reasoning, I think our fanbase are reacting to this relegation battle in a totally understandable way.
We have an owner, and board who have so little knowledge of football, that abject failure is inevitable.
Even if we were to stay up by the skin of our teeth, next season will be be the same shit served up again.There is absolutely no plan, vision, ambition etc to be seen.
The championship standard seems to be dropping each season, and any owner with an ounce of ambition and nous would install a manager with experience and vision, and back him to challenge for promotion.
The likes of Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth are proving that small clubs can reach the top division, and not only stay there, but challenge for a top half finish.
Our set up is so pathetic, that if we go down, as I fully expect us to, I have no confidence what so ever that we’d go back up. More likely we’d be bouncing around in the 3rd tier of English football for a long time.

We all know anything can happen. Plymouth may yet come mid table. Nobody said its impossible we will stay up.

You even say yourself you have resigned yourself to the fact we are going down which is basically what everyone else has said.

If I had to put my house on three teams to go down, I probably would put us in it, the signs are clearly there, but losing all hope when it’s this close I find incredibly negative.

There is always hope but, put it this way, I now know where Stevenage is. A new ground for me. If we get relegated, there aren't that many attractive fixtures in L1 (assuming Wrexham go up).

No not now. I’d convinced myself a while ago that if we dropped into the bottom 3 that we would find it nigh on impossible to get back out based on lack of nous, experience, real fight and the general apathy suffocating the club. At the moment we are going down with a whimper, so my only counter to ‘no’ is surely over the next 6 games we will see some proper fight and reaction from the players on the pitch. Forget the manager, forget the ability, just scrap. Surely?

I've said all along I think we'll stay up but there will be very little in it. However, it wouldn't be any kind of a surprise if we went down. The problem is that several of the teams around us have picked up points recently where they weren't expected to do so. Some of our contributors would have you believe the relegation battle is all about the so-called six pointers, but obviously it isn't. Points are equally important wherever you get them.

I thought we'd draw yesterday, so much so that I bet on it, but I also bet on Sheffield United to beat Oxford. I thought that was a nailed-on away win but Oxford dug out the sort of result we just don't look capable of getting.

I reckon our current odds are just about right - 11/10 against.

However isnt it slightly unusual to have only 2 teams odds on to go down at this stage of the season? Considering the built in bookies advantage? Id have expected us and derby both to be odds on to drop?

No, there are too many contenders for that.

The battle for the championship is similar - Leeds are 6/5, Burnley are 6/4, Sheffield United are 10/3.

The bookies see Plymouth as virtual relegation certainties, Luton as strong odds-on chances, and then effectively four realistic contenders (us, Derby, Stoke and Oxford) for the final relegation spot.

Yesterday's game at QPR was a must-win for me. I know that mathematically, we can still stay up, but that game was one of our best chances to pick up three points. And yet nobody in the team seemed the least bit interested in our plight. There was no sense of urgency, or need. For most of them, it looked as though it was just a sunny afternoon playing football. Sad to see, but if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Thing is, they haven't paid peanuts for this side. They've spent plenty of money on fees wages, but a lot of it has been wasted, and it doesn't help when the management and coaching set-up comes from the bargain bin.

I don’t think any of us deliberately lose hope. It’s just staring us in the face that this team hasn’t got the fight in them. Most of the season has been played with a ‘next week will do’ attitude.

Do you mind me asking what makes you think we’ll just about stay up ?
I’m almost always optimistic about anything in life, but this season from what I’ve seen so far, we really should be about 1/3 to go down at this stage. The tank is running on fumes.
