Interesting read which includes a poll that I just voted yes in - must say, the current verdict surprises me.

Not sure I find it boring in terms of playing styles. For me it's all about how tight the championship, Europe and relegation battles are, and in that case it's only really interesting in terms of the battle for Europe.
I do think the game is micromanaged and generally over analysed. I get why, but it can make the game less enjoyable. The classic example is VAR of course, and the analysis of decisions that really don't need quite so much analysis, because it's a sport at the end of the day.
The stats are interesting in terms of less crosses or whatever. Clearly the game is changing. Ironically enough it's the abundance of opta stats that drives the micromanagement.
Can’t watch these days, I just find it so dull….had sky sports free for jan and Feb, don’t think I watched 1 whole game…..
Yes, the Premier League is extremely boring.
After watching PSG it's incredibly boring! Hopefully it's a new trend where wingers take on their man and add a bit of excitement to the game. Barcelona are also worth a watch, while Real Madrid have gone backwards.
As I was saying ... https://x.com/ChampionsLeague/status...52740582760912
A Cardiff City fan who watches Championship football week in, week out, asking if the Premier League is boring.
Jesus wept
Is football boring...hmmm Didn't see that coming did you
As someone who does just that, I heartily agree with the OP. The media hype it up to ridiculous levels, a truly lifeless game devoid of incident, drama and dare say it, the odd mistake, is described by the commentators as anything but. I have Sky etc., but rarely watch PL matches preferring the occasional Championship game.
I didn’t like the concept of the Premier League from day one, so I’ve never been a fan really. However, even a cynic like me has had to admit that, for much of its existence, it’s been an entertaining and highly watchable league. Not this season though, the fact it’s not been that competitive probably has something to do with it, but I think it’s more to do with how there aren’t many teams i look forward to watching any more. Time was I’d look forward to seeing sides like Brighton, Bournemouth andBrentford play, while the big teams like Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal were always worth a watch, but this season there’s a lack of spontaneity and individualism at virtually all teams which I don’t believe has helped the English cause in the Champions League - it’s more predictable this season because nearly all of the teams play in such a similar manner.
I'll never get bored of Manu or Liverpool losing 👊
I think Pep-ball played a part in screwing up the Premier League. Once everybody started doing it they all cancelled each other out in the most boring of ways. I'm hoping for a PSG v Barcelona Champions League final, which hopefully may lead to the return of entertaining football.
Most of football is quite boring.
It's the passion and history that gets people watching and interested. The actual game? Nah.
It has big epic moments of course (goals) which are the highest value reward in any sport which is why it's so popular. Oh and it's so tragically simple.
When it's not boring it's a real story and a game to remember- but it's a game to remember because it's not the norm! The norm is fairly meh.
VAR is boring, so yes
Man City arent boring any more.
The days of metronomic control, sideways and backward passing, technical masterclasses that made mugs of their opponents, and finally (finally!) the killer pass that led to a tap in. are over.
The football now is worse, but the interest, excitement and surprises are more.
Now we have teams that mix it up and arent fixated with possession and I prefer it.
More risk and reward and less of a certain type of quality. Different qualities now. The dominance of Pepball was stifling.
So, if you support an EFL team, you cannot find the Premier League boring? City have, basically, been a poor watch since 2019, at least, yet I.ve found the Premier League to be exciting in most seasons since then, this time though i haven’t - too many teams set up to play on the “transition” now for me.
